A collage of the 6 Hotest Hairstyle Trends for 2013

Hairstyles So Hot, They’re Worth Wearing

The year of 2012 was certainly eventful with another Presidential Elections and a Mayan apocalypse under our belts. But another memorable part of 2012 was of course, the fabulous hairstyles. From flirty up-dos to sexy texture, the past year has  revealed relaxed, feminine, and timeless hairstyles that are worth wearing into 2013.

DEEP SIDE PARTS

FACE FRAMING HIGHLIGHTS

  • Who is it Best For: Those who want highlights without  monthly retouches, medium to long lengths, and naturally medium to dark hair.

  • Recommended Products: Kenra Platinum Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Additional Tips: Keep color looking fresh and shiny with hair gloss treatments every 4 to 6 weeks.

URBAN WAVES

  • Who is it Best For: Fine to Medium Hair, Oval, Heart, & Oblong Face Shapes
  • How to Style: Apply texture cream or beach spray to towel dried hair. Section hair into three or four large braids. Speed up dry time with a blow dryer, or allow to air dry.  Remove braids and enjoy sexy, relaxed waves.
  • Recommended Products: Sexy Healthy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray
  • Additional Tips: For more bounce, touch up straighter pieces with a medium to large barrel curling iron.

LAYERED BOB

  • Who is it For: Heart, Round, Square, & Oval Face Shapes
  • How to Style: For a tousled and sexy bob hairstyle, apply a mousse for volume and texture on towel dried hair. Blowdry the roots for volume and finish off with a dry wax for pieciness.
  • Recommended Products: Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam; Paul Mitchell Dry Wax

LONG WISPY BANGS

  • Who is it For: Ideal for naturally straight hair, this hairstyle works well on Oblong, Heart & Oval Face shapes.
  • How to Style: Comb bangs forward while hair is damp. Blow dry bangs with a flat or round brush and touch up with a flat iron when completely dry if needed. Emulsify a tiny drop of shine serum in hands to run through hair and bangs for control and shine.
  • Recommended Products: Enjoy Shine & Smooth
  • Additional Tips: For this edgy, wispy bang it’s ideal for a hairdresser to point cut to add texture and reduce bluntness. Also, ask your stylist to go on the longer side; you can always ask them to go shorter, but they can’t put length back on!

EDGY SHORT (short!)  STYLES

  • Who is it For: All hair types; Face Shapes that are Heart & Oval.
  • How to Style: Apply a volumizing gel or mousse on towel dried hair. Use a blow dryer on the roots to create volume and movement. Use a dry wax spray on tousled style. Use fingers to create additional volume and style.

Tabatha Coffey On 2013 Spring Hair Trends

Long Voluminous Waves

Hot 2013 Spring Hair Trends

I must say I’m looking forward to spring for many reasons. Sure the obvious “no more heavy layers” and “I can finally wear my favorite shoes without salt ruining them” are high on my why list, but what I love is how spring brings forth renewal and rebirth. And even though this can apply to personal life, nature and spirituality, I let it rejuvenate a beauty regimen. Hair starts getting lighter in color and in weight and makeup palates transition from bold to natural.

When it comes to hair trends for spring I always take note of what I’ve seen at global fashion weeks, especially New York Fashion Week, and I will tell you this, it’s not about uptight, taught tresses like high ponytails and sleek chignons—hair this season is all about being natural and looking “undone.” Here are my three favorite spring hair trends for 2013

Rock ‘N’ Roll Waves: I feel like most people tend to refer to textured, wavy hair as “beachy waves” and I’m growing tired of that term so from now on we’re going to call the look Rock ‘N’ Roll waves. Sounds harder, edgier don’t you think? It’s less 90210 and more CBGB.

These easy-to-achieve waves were seen at Diane von Furstenberg and J. Mendel. All it takes is a flat iron, a rotating hand motion and a great texturizing spray. Actually, I love using a spray that contains sea salt because it really helps “roughen” up the hair.

Messy Updo Hairstyle with a Wide Headband

Undone Updos: Remember when I said hair was looking undone this season? This applies 100 percent to updos, especially when it comes to bridal hair. Two of my favorite looks were seen at the Vera Wang and Chloé shows. This trend is being used more frequently by spring brides who want their hair to look more romantic and ethereal. It’s kind of like “heaven hair”—dreamy, wispy and a bit angelic.

Deep Middle Part

Deep Middle Parts: At Blumarine, the models worked the catwalk with hair parted straight down the middle. But it wasn’t just any part made with a simple tail comb. These parts were pronounced and bold—parts made with wide-toothed combs and defined with shine serum on both sides. It’s the kind of part that makes the eyes look alluring and seductive. Definitely a great “night out” look.

No matter which sexy spring hairstyle you choose, just remember to have fun. Each of these hairstyles shows personality, don’t forget to embrace yours.

New Year: New You with 2103 Hottest Hairstyles!

There’s no better way to liven up the new year, and a long winter than with a visit to the salon for a fresh hairstyle. We’re opening the style vaults for 2013 to let you in on the latest and hottest trends for the year. After all, new year = new (& improved) you!  Enjoy!

Anne Hathaway: chocolate brown hair and pixie haircut

Short Edgy Haircuts

Celebrities from Anne Hathaway to Miley Cyrus are shedding their long locks for super short, sexy haircuts. Pixie cuts can be a super easy and girly look and a dramatic change from typical longer looks. Arm yourself with confidence, and loads of styling product, for a bold, super short (and sexy!) new haircut. I love Bumble & Bumble’s Texture Cream for pixie cuts!

Blake Lively blonde messy side braid

Brittany Snow sexy blonde side braid

Messy Braid

If you’re not looking for a total change of look, but are wanting to switch up your hairstyle, nothing says 2013 like  an easy, messy braid.  Not only does a braid make an effortless day time look, but paired with a cocktail dress, is an ultra sexy option for a night out! To create an “undone” look like Brittany Snow and Blake Lively, try prepping your hair with some beach spray like d:fi beach bum texturizing spray.

Jessica Biel: Long layered hair with ombre hair color and bangs

Taylor Swift long blonde hair with layers and bangs

Bangin’ Bangs

One of my favorite ways to change up my look without committing to a total hairstyle change, is with a bang change. Jessica Biel and Taylor Swift have the same idea in mind, with their glamorous long hair paired with a flirty new bangs. Keep your look up to date with this year’s hottest accessory: full, eyelash skimming bangs. To keep your look polished (and avoid pesky fly aways) add a finishing touch with Kenra Shine Spray.

Ombre (yep it’s still in!)

Another year has passed, and ombre is as hot as ever. (Ombre is a color technique where hair fades from dark to light, or vise versa.) Women around the world (me included!) can release a sigh of relief with the assurance that they can still rock this hot look and avoid monthly retouches at the salon. So rock on ladies, ombre’s not going anywhere for a while!

Hot Headbands

Maybe Blaire Waldorf has been onto something all along. While she’s been teased for her obsession with headbands in the hot TV series, Gossip Girl, headbands have become a hot new addition to hairstyles for 2013. Sorry Blaire, it’s not always easy being a trendsetter!

So while your hitting the gym and resolving to ditch that extra Starbucks, treat yourself to a resolution that will have you smiling and others turning heads. After all, who can resist the hot new hairstyles of 2013? Stay up with all the happenings in hair trends by following our Pinterest Hair Trends and Celebrities Boards.
