5 Long Hairstyles that Rock for Valentine’s Day or Any Day!

Katy Perry's long hairstyle, black voluminous curls
Be dreamy! Try one of these long, fabulously feminine hairstyles!

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to experiment with long romantic hairstyles.  It calls for the liberation of your most feminine charms.  These celebrity long hairstyles, from this year’s red carpets, are loose, flowing and magnificently romantic.  They have cascading tendrils and stunning silhouettes. Women have been perfecting these lovely looks for years.  So, have you thought of what hairstyle you will be wearing this Valentine’s Day?

Alexandra Breckenridge at the 2012 Golden Globes with auburn red, curly hair styled in a loose, side ponytail

Loose Side Ponytail

Loose side ponytails are flirty and tantalizing! This hairstyle works with every hair type and is best for woman with shoulder length hair or longer. You can dress up your playful ponytail during the day by wrapping a ribbon or scarf around the elastic. Are you going out for a romantic evening? Instead of a ribbon, use a small section of your hair to hide the elastic. It’s easy, just take a small section of hair from the bottom of your ponytail, and wrap it around the elastic once. Then secure the section with a bobby pin to complete this effortless, elegant look.

Witherspoon at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards with blonde, tousled, wavy hair Tousled Waves

Tousled waves look sexy on all women regardless of the length of their hair. Women born with gorgeous, natural waves will have the least amount of work to achieve this long hairstyle. People with other hair textures can create beautiful, soft waves using a large (1 ¼ “) curling iron or a triple barrel curling iron. Once your hair is set in waves, spray a light scrunching spray into your hair to create a more textured look. The messier the waves; the more alluring the hairstyle, so be daring. Tip over your head, and shake out your hair. Do you want to make your valentine’s eyes sparkle with awe? Wear a gemstone headband or a sparkly barrett to compliment your sexy hairdo.

Busy Phillips at the 2012 Sag Awards with her blonde hair styled in a hairline, halo braid Halo Braid

A halo braid brings romance to any hairstyle. These braids are usually styled in a French braid fashion making them easy to accomplish with as little as a few inches of hair. To help prevent frizz, apply a small amount of serum to the section prior to braiding. Want to give your long hairstyle more personality? Instead of using a traditional French braid, try a French rope braid or a French fishtail braid. You can also accessorize your long hairstyle by pinning small flowers or feathers between the strands of your completed braid.

Vanessa Hudson at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards with her hair styled in a messy updo bun Messy Updo

A messy updo is casual yet chic when it is styled correctly. Because this hairstyle has many variations, it can be worn by anyone with chin length hair or longer. If you choose this style, remember to incorporate lots of volume. Flat messy hair just looks like a mess. Do you want to look extra special for that somebody special? Leave a few small cascading strands down around your face to enhance your hairstyle and accentuate your features.
