THIS season celebrity hairstyles are all about extravagance.
Sleek straight locks are yesterday’s news as women crave volume and sexy tousled tresses.
Celebrity hairdresser Jamie Brooks, of Brooks & Brooks salons, says the looks to aspire to are sophisticated but work on a street level.
Jamie says: “Women desire a look that’s dangerously extravagant, exuding depth and mystery.
“One of the key looks imparts a 60s hairstyle feel One of the key celebrity hairstyles imparts a 60s feel- low side partings, higher crown movement and longer layering.
“The look is updated when hair is blow-dried out in a sexy way – think Bardot – keeping it tousled and loose.”
He says any length goes this season.
“But whether bob, boyish halo shapes or long Bardot hairstyle, the layers on the top are longer and fuller and the underneath of the hair is flattened out to provide volume and movement to the style.”
WHICH CELEBRITIES ARE SPORTING THE HOTTEST HAIRSTYLE?
hairdresser to the stars, Charles Worthington, loves Dita Von Teese’s hairstyle.
Charles says: “Her hairstyle is a fabulous modern day example of the glamorous hairstyles of the 1950s.
“A set of soft waves with tons of body, it’s a sophisticated hairstyle that has stood the test of time and it fits particularly well with the trend for voluminous hair this spring summer.”

Charles says start with clean, dry hair and part to the side. Starting at the nape of the neck divide the hair into chunky sections, spraying with a protecting spray.
Comb through the section to remove any product build-up before clamping large barrelled curling irons over the ends of the sections, making sure they are tucked in.
Gently wind the irons up but stop about four inches from the scalp to crease a looser, more modern look. Leave them in about five seconds and then unwind.
Repeat the process, working from the back of the head to the front. Gently use your fingers to break up sections of larger curls. Run a small amount of frizz-taming solution through for a glossy finish.
Set the hairstyle with hairspray. Finally, sweep the fringe across your face and secure with a pin.
TOO LATE FOR STRAIGHT
Lisa Wilde, creative hairstyle director of Francesco Group, says everyone is bored with the ‘Friends’ straight hair look.
She says: “There are so many curly looks you can go for but celebrity hairstyles such as Victoria Beckham and Catherine Zeta-Jones have sported loose waves.
“As seen on the catwalks at Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana, fashion addicts know that this season’s accent colour has simply got to be … violet!

| Madonna … the flicky flirty look |
Lisa loves Madonna’s flicked out Angel’s hairstyle. She says the look gives width and body but has a soft element to it. It suits oval and square faces best.

Apply a solution to protect your hair from ironing and then use large styling irons to simply flick up the ends of your hair.
Apply a shimmer spray for shine and Lisa recommends Wella’s System Professional Silk Fibre to give control and add gloss. To finish use hairspray to hold your celebrity hairstyle.
Alternatively, turn hair under instead of flicking up and create a lovely, choppy bob with a slimline feel.
