Four Ways to Wear Modern Bob Hairstyles
Hot New Looks for a Classic Style
We all know that the “bob hairstyle” has quite a history, but the good news is that it has a future too! It’s hard to hold on to my long locks with all these tempting modern bob hairstyles to choose from! Not only can a bob be edgy and modern, but the hottest haircuts for 2013 are classic and feminine too. If you’re thinking about saying goodbye to your long hair, or just want to update your hairstyle, take a look at these hot ways to wear the modern bob.
Ultra Short Bob
Who it Works For: The short bob hairstyle is ideal for oval and heart face shapes and fine to medium hair texture. This cut also works great on blessed women who have a little natural wave!
How to Style: For a sleek look like Ashlee Simpson, blow dry with a flat brush and finish with a flat iron. For a flirtier, relaxed look like Carrie Mulligan, apply a texture creme B&B Texture Hair Un Dressing Crème to damp hair and scrunch. Use a blow dryer to dry with fingers.
Keep in Mind: This style looks a little softer with slight layering or a side bang.
The Long Bob
Who it Works For: The long bob looks great on oval, square, heart, oblong, and round face shapes. Yep, that’s all of them. Because the length is versatile, this cut is super flattering on most women. It also works great on all hair textures; however, your stylist should tailor the cut to your individual needs. Thicker hair needs more texture and layering, while fine hair looks fuller with less layers.
How to Style: I prefer the long bob to be styled with a bit of wave, like Ali Larter and Brooklyn Decker. Blow dry hair with a large round brush and then style with a medium barrel curling iron (if your super savvy, you can create waves with your flat iron!). Finish off with a volumizing hairspray Kenra Volume Spray.
The “Shob” (Shaggy Bob)
Who it Works For: Oval, heart, square, and oblong face shapes work well for the “shob” haircut. Because this bob has a lot of layers and movement, it’s ideal for women with fine hair that are looking for a little boost. The shaggy bob is a lower maintenance look for those who want a shorter style without a huge styling commitment.
How to Style: Use a blow dryer to rough dry hair with your fingers. Flip your head over form more volume. On dry hair, apply dry wax and use fingers to create movement Enjoy Dry Wax. Don’t go for perfection on this haircut, the shob looks great with lots of playful texture.
Keep in Mind: If you don’t like hair in your face, this might not be the right look for you!
The Bob with Front Bangs
Who it Works For: Oval, heart, and oblong face shapes are ideal for front bangs. Bangs work well on fine to thick hair, but may be something that our curly haired friends want to avoid unless they want to battle with a flat iron every morning.
How to Style: This bang is ideal on smooth, straight hair. Blow dry hair with a flat brush and finish with a flat iron. To avoid fly aways and achieve a beautiful shine, finish with a shine spray Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray.
Keep in Mind: Side bangs look great on a square or round face!
