Brown Haircolor Correction

Women, I know at times you think my comments on haircolor at home, or better still, my advice on brown haircolor correction a, sounds like a broken record. But here is what a reader who claims to be a professional hair colorists, has to say on the matter . . . I believe she is, I’ve seen it all too often myself. Thanks Ashley!

Comment: I was scanning over the comments and I am shocked at how many people color their hair at home. If hair color was a simple science I would not of had to go to school nor spent 20 grand on my education to be the best colorist I can be! Like I said, if it was this easy there would be no need for salons. On a better note for me at least; Keep coloring it at home because the color corrections at the salon make my paycheck lately!

,,

If you are set on a brown haircolor at home, here is what you need to know before grabbing a box of brown haircolor and throwing in on your head . . . It may save you many tears, not to mention your hair! If you have previous haircolor, highlights, high lifted color, or any chemical on the hair, it will contribute to the end haircolor result you will get. DON’T’ TRY TO COLOR THIS YOURSELF. At least, not the first time. Have a professional hair colorist get you to the brown haircolor you want.

“Don’t try Brown Haircolor Correction at Home”

If you are watching your bucks, and want to do some of your own brown haircoloring at home, discuss it with your professional hair colorist. They are really the only ones who can direct you to the right haircolor process for your individual needs. In many situations, hair colorists will work with you and give you a formula that will work for you to use at home in-between time. This can keep haircolor appointments to a minimum and your hair in good shape.

If you have ROOTS OF A DIFFERENT HAIRCOLOR, they will need to be treated differently than the rest of your hair. Get professional hair colorist advice on this one also. The porosity of your hair contributes to the length of processing time a brown haircolor should be left on your hair. Basically the drier the hair, the more it will grab the brown haircolor and if the porosity is uneven, the haircolor will take unevenly. (This is a reason you see darker ends on bad haircoloring techniques.)

Before purchasing, read the chart on the back of the box to determine the brown haircolor shade you need in order to achieve your desired end result.

BIG TIP . . . WHAT YOU SEE IS NOT WHAT YOU GET. This is where a majority of people make their first mistake. It would seem to make sense that you buy the box of haircolor that shows the picture of the hair color you want, but it doesn’t work that way. You need to know your base or natural haircolor in order to use the chart of haircolors correctly and this also is a place where many people make mistakes.

READ ALL DIRECTIONS before beginning and follow them without deviation. The large mega companies who produce home haircolor products you can buy at your local drug store, beauty store or grocery store, know all too well how to market their product and make it look easy to use. They price it right and the models used . . . Now really, have you ever seen more gorgeous hair in your life?? Just remember the saying . . . Buyer beware!

Don’t jump into brown haircoloring your own hair without doing your homework first . . . Com on now girls, it’s you HAIR!! Read for yourself just some of the difficulties people get into when hair coloring their own hair at home

Nothing can lift your looks and your sprit like a new color for your hair.

    1. It’s funny how hair dresser won’t tell you how to truely do your hair at home. They won’t tell you about just running down to Sally’s and buy exactly what they buy, no I guess there is a hair dresser oath not to tell. Just keep searching the web for what your looking for you will find the answer.

    2. The funny thing is that I did go to a salon! I went to the same person i’ve been going to for almost tow years!! I have Dark brown hair that looks a little red/purple and it has light blonde STRIPES throughout. I wanted her to refresh my lt/med brown hair because as she said,”it looks too ashy” and then I wanted the caramel/light brown highlights put in. I’m crying and I don’t want to go back in there ever again! I should’ve bought a box at Target! At least I wouldn’t be out $150.00. How do I fix this?

    3. Melrose,

Don’t try to fix this yourself! If you paid $150.00 it just follows that “someone” in that shop should have the expertise in hair coloring to fix this!!
I suggest you call your stylist and see what she has to say, let her know you lack confidence in her ability to fix it. My guess is she will either turn you to someone who can fix it, or at least return your money. You then would need to do some homework and find a capable colorist.
      Hope this helps!
