7 Tips For Hair Sun Protection

Hair Sun Protection Tip #1 wear a hat

I’ve been to see my hairdresser today to do some hair color touch up on my own hair (seems I’m doing that more often lately). Lisa and I engaged in our usual chit chat which always ends up with us talking about what is going on in the industry these days. “Hair Sun
Protection Tips”
Not surprisingly, she is seeing lots of hair sun protection issues. Lots of sun burned scalps, dry . . . straw like hair.

Lisa and I agree, that the best hair sun protection you can grab on your way out of the house each morning, is a hat. Summer hats are so much fun, don’t you love to see someone in a cute hat? A hat is such a style statement. At crowded outdoor events in summer, don’t you always notice someone in a cute hat? It says something about the persons style. I for one, would love it if hats made a bigger comeback.

My hubby loves old movies, so I often find myself watching a black and white movie from the 30′s or 40′s. This generation knew how to create style with wardrobe, including hats. For those of you who didn’t follow my advice in the recent article Simple hair care tips for summer sun and now find you’re stuck with some damaged hair on your hands, here are some tips.

Tips Released For Hair Sun Protection; Noufal Hair Color Studio Recommends 7 Tips to Treat Summer Hair

VIENNA, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Noufal Hair Color Studio, an award-winning full-service salon, announced today seven tips for hair sun protection. Noufal’s Owner Joey Noufal says as women are enjoying summer activities, many are damaging their hair due to sun over-exposure and to chlorine damage.”I know women are just starting to enjoy summer and be out in the sun, but it is not too early to help treat hair and even do some hair sun protection methods to rescue summer hair,” Noufal said. “Sun exposure lightens hair up, and lounging poolside leaves hair with chlorine build up.” Tips for hair sun protection include:

– Use a Shampoo/Conditioner with SPF: To help protect hair from sun elements, Noufal recommends choosing a shampoo/conditioner such as Goldwell’s Definition that contains an SPF. As women are outside more during summer months, it is important to protect hair. “When you are out in sun more, the sun lightens hair even more if your hair is color treated. SPF in your shampoo and conditioner will help retain color,” he added.

– Take a Cold Shower: As summer months might lead to more showers due to increased activity, beware as showering can damage hair as there is chlorine even in household water. When taking a traditional shower, hot chlorine is being activated and this has a higher intensity level than cold chlorine. Noufal recommends a cold, slightly warm shower to further protect hair.

– Conditioner to the Rescue: A deep moisturizing conditioner can help restore hair’s natural healthy elements and protect hair color treatments. Conditioners, such as Redken’s Smooth Down, is great for curly hair in summer months to help control the frizz. “Leave-in conditioners, where you spray on about 10-12 squirts and massage through hair. Apply before any other styling products such as smoothing serum or mouse,” Noufal added.

– Don’t Forget the Scalp: Be sure to apply an SPF treatment such as Redken’s UV Rescue for scalp and hair. This is especially great for those with very short hair as scalp areas might be more exposed.
