Royal Wedding Hairstyles

Royal wedding hairstyles that are fit for a princess come in all shapes and sizes; short, medium, long, bangs and no bangs and they are adorned with tiaras, hats and veils that trail from here to eternity. It’s a Royal affair!

So far, I’ve kept from jumping into the raging debate of what hairstyle and what dress we think Kate Middleton will wear on April 29^th. Who will do her hair?  Will it be up or down? Or both up and down?  I recall somewhat similar speculation that went on with Princess Di and Prince Charles nuptials, but seriously, with the evolution of the blogosphere, Internet and Social media, the hype has risen to a fever pitch!  It’s exhausting to watch!

But feeling just a little left out and in a strange way, filling a need to connect with this monumental occasion, (I do think it will be a splendid affair) I thought pictures of past Royal Wedding hairstyles, dresses and headdresses would be fitting!

Hair Care for Black Hair Do’s and Don’ts

When it comes to hair care for black hair, African-American women try many different things . . .  from relaxers, to braids and weaves.  In order to try new hair styles, it’s important to keep the tangles at bay.  Here are some techniques to add to your hair care for black hair regimen to help you prevent snags and tangles.“Hair Care for

Deep Conditioning: Using a wide toothed comb, apply a generous amount of conditioner to your hair.  Proceed to comb it through from root to the ends of your hair.

Use of natural oils can help maintain your hair’s natural beauty in-between shampooing. Make sure that the oil you decide to use is one that contains nutrients that act as a moisturizer for your hair, such as jojoba, shea or olive oils.  Stay away from oils that make your hair look greasy.  Flat, greasy hair is NOT attractive, no matter what anyone says.

Sometimes, black hair care demands the use of heated hair styling tools such as flat irons and curling irons.  When you decide to use these types of tools, use a protective spray to help keep your hair from getting damaged by the heat.   Another important point is to make sure to use hot platted tools that are either ceramic or tourmaline.  These hair styling tools will cause the least damage to your hair and will also give you the best results!

Hair Care for Black Hair No-No’s
Are you interested in being able to grow long, luscious hair?  If so, then there are a few things you should know about hair care for black hair. There are certain things that can stunt your hair growth by using improper hair styling techniques. Below is a list of certain things that can be attributed to stunted hair growth.

• Braiding your hair to tightly

• Heat from styling tools

• Using Pomades

• Heavy hairsprays

• Being too harsh when combing your hair

Hair Knots:

• NEVER run a comb through your hair when it’s dry! This is a big time hair care for black hair No-No.  It is best to do this directly after shampooing and conditioning your hair. If you are not able to do this, apply a light oil before attempting to comb through your hair.

• When it comes to African-American hair, avoid using any hair brushes.  Because African-American hair is very fragile and susceptible to damage, hair brushes tend to cause more harm than good. Instead, use hair combs that are made especially for black hair care.

• Don’t turn to gels and sprays when styling your hair.  These products tend to dry out your hair and cause breakage.  Ever notice that when you put gel in your hair that you can bend it and it cracks?  Instead, look to using natural black hair products such as hair butters made with shea, cocoa and mango butters, that will not dry your hair out any further.

• Try to avoid using any type of rubber bands to secure braids and ponytails.  This can cause breakage of your hair – not to mention split ends (ugh!).  If you need to tie your hair back, use fabric-covered bands or hair clips. They do the job, and they look better than plain old ugly rubber bands.

Braids are suitable for any vacation destination, from big cities to the remote countryside or beach. Create a charming fishtail braid by pulling your hair back into a low ponytail, securing it with an elastic band. Divide your hair into two sections. Take a thin piece of hair from the outside of section 1 and cross it over to join section 2. Then take a thin piece of hair from the outside of section 2 and cross it over to join section 1. Keep repeating this pattern, and tie off the end.

Sexy and romantic, a chignon is perfect for wining and dining or window-shopping along a major city avenue. This hair style is quicker to create if your hair is long. Smooth your hair back into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic band. Divide your ponytail into two sections and twist the sections together all the way down. Then wrap the twisted ponytail around the band, tucking in the ends and securing with a pin or two.
