Zohan, “wants to cut and style the hair”

“You Don’t Mess with the Zohan”

Ha! Ha! Ha!  This trailer from, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, will make most hair stylists I know cringe, cheer, and try to find that magic spot that Zohan so masterfully uses on the young and restless hair client from hell.

This trailer below, brought back screaming memories of the ‘little darlin’s’ whom all hair stylists I know have had in our chairs at one time or another. Even if you didn’t work in a kids hair care salon, they made up a big portion of the heads we needed to clip in order to get licensed as hair stylists.

Challenging days to say the least!  I never understood how there were enough stylists to fill the salons that catered to these little ones . . . bless their hearts. In my salon, we use to charge twice as much for the youngin’s  . . . which seemed to keep them to a bare minimum.  But don’t get me wrong, I have much respect for the hair stylists who take on that challenge daily . . . Whew!

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, will be released Friday, June 6th at theaters.  Zohan (Adam Sandler) is a Top Israeli Soldier with the National Intelligence Agency of the State of Israel, who fakes his own death in order to fulfill his dream of . . . becoming a hair stylist. He doesn’t want to fight anymore, but would rather “cut and style the hair.” My guess is things might get a bit raunchy, after reading that he “romances his clients by giving them “special services” in the back room.” But it still gets rated PG13, so who knows?

I’m not a big fan of Adam Sandler, but some of the clips from this show did have me laughing. Zohan’s dream is to work for Paul Mitchell in New York City, but of course having no experience in “cutting the hair” he is unable to land the job. He is able to use his unique charms however, to eventually build a reputation and finally gets a call from Paul Mitchell’s, John Paul Dejoria, who has a cameo in the movie. Some scenes were filmed at the Paul Mitchell School in Sherman Oaks, California.

So my favorite clip, here at Kipper Snippers Salon, Zohan helps out a fellow hair stylist in resolving the universal problem of the screaming, little moving target kid syndrome.  He’s got a classic delivery in telling the young one how he shouldn’t jump around or he might get his ear cut off by accident. NOT out of the question. I know a stylist in school who did just that. She picked up the tip of the ear from the floor and holding a towel on his ear, the child and mother drove to the hospital.

I think, for hair stylists at least, this movie should be on your list of must see’s this season. I’m sure he’s got a few more classic salon scenes in the movie. Sandler’s humor may not be for everyone. He is known as a patron of Jewish causes and not so popular in the Arab, Muslim world and some might take offense in his political approach, but what’s new.  He wrote the movie and is also one of a few producers of the film.

Stylists, you will laugh.
