Skype Hair Consultations The Next New Wave?

Skype Hair Consultations
Skype Hair Consultations Now Offered

I’m feeling pretty confident in saying “Skype hair consultations,” may be the next big, upcoming new service we see being offered by hair salons . . . and if not, it should be!

What’s a “Skype”? “Skype” is a video communication tool that’s been around for a few years now, but has come a long way in improving its usability. I’m no techie, but I can tell you it’s a free service and all you need is a web cam. You can download your own Skype trial at, www.skype.com

For clients, both old and new, this is a great way to get a feel for what your options are ahead of time. For new clients, you can get a feel for what a new hairdresser offers you without making the trip into the hair salon. Normally your hairdresser has a short amount of time allotted within your appointment to discuss new hairstyle options for you. That may work fine for you both. But, sometimes you may want more time to think about what your options are with a big hairstyle or hair color change you are considering. Also, if you or your hairdresser tend to consistently run late, it narrows your consultation time down even more.

“Skype” hair consultations are now offered at Plan B Salon, in Cambridge, Massachusetts as a new free  hair salon service. The salon schedules 15 minute time slots available for video consultations one day a week. They also have a limited amount of mid-week appointments available, as time permits. The client fills out an online form from the salon’s website requesting a date and time, along with their “Skype” call-back number, and they send a confirmation via e-mail within 24 hours.

“Skype” hair consultations sounds like a win-win to me! A great service for clients and a great way to introduce new clientele to hair salons.
