How to Take an UpDo with you to Spring Break Even if you Have Short Hair
“Short Hair Updo Hairstyle for
Spring Break”
American Salon magazine and The Doves Salon, bring us this “really cool” updo hairstyle for short hair, just in time for spring break!
I was lucky enough to talk with Christopher Dove, renown hair stylist and colorist, to get the low-down on how this short hair up-do was created. Christopher and Sonya Dove, owners of The Doves Salon in Santa Monica, Ca., were the former creative directors for Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salons and are the current creative directors for the North American division of Wella.
This short hair up-do, as you might suspect, was enhanced with clip on hair pieces. “We actually used a few clip on hair pieces and cut them to different lengths, to create this short up-do hair style,” Christopher said.
They colored the hair using multi-dimensional lighting in the hair to create, “layers of light.” Koleston Perfect, by Wella was the color line used. The hair extensions are by Remi, the 909 exclusive collection, European hair. This European, human hair, is top of the line and highly noted for it’s durability, silkiness and smoothness.
Although “clip on kits” are available to the public, there are at least a couple of reasons you may want to have a reputable hair care salon do the selection for you. . . color matching and customizing or the cutting in of your piece(s) to blend and enhance your hairstyle.
Hair color matching is extremely important, if you want a natural look . . . and who doesn’t? The beauty of good quality human hair pieces, is that they are much more durable than synthetics and can be colored or highlighted to blend with your own. Also, as in the above up-do, human hair can be curled or straightened with an iron and will hold up to heat styling. Synthetics will melt with heat and are unable to be colored or permed.
Christopher also made the point that the clip-in pieces come in standard lengths and need to be trimmed in order to be customized to your hairstyle. “We do a considerable amount of business with extensions for weddings and other special occasions.”
If you are going to invest in extensions it will pay to have them matched correctly for you.If you can tell extensions are extensions . . . I suggest you look for a salon that is experienced in working with extensions. A reputable salon will guarantee a right match for you and that’s not easy to come by on your own.
Ladies, you may want to consider clip-ins for those special occasions that call for fabulous hair! If you get the right pieces to begin with, you will be set for many hairstyles and soiree’s to come!!
All products used for this hairstyle were by, Sebastian
