Shear Genius Season is here
Here it is folks, back once again for a third season is Bravo’s hit TV sensation . . . Shear Genius! This show puts to test 12 hairdressers to compete in challenges that test their skill level and self composure to the max.“Shear Genius Season 3″ In looking at some of the promo video’s on Bravo’s site www.bravotv.com for the upcoming season, I’m wondering where they will go from here. It’s in the nature of returning TV competitive type series like this, that they strive to make everything bigger and therefore presumably better. I mean, in this case of Shear Genius 3, I think it will have even more drama . . . if you can imagine that?
After seeing the video clip below, “The First Challenge,” I would caution ‘would be hair models’ to rethink their strategy of getting a free hair-do, hairstyle or hair color for coming on the show.
I do think the show has lots to offer both hairdressers and public as well. Those who are not in the hair industry will get a peek into some of the bizarre aspects of the business and will learn some terminology and styling techniques as well. hairdressers I think can learn a lot about what they can learn from pushing the envelope and taking risks. Also, hopefully some may see how big ego’s and differences of personalities in the hair salon can get in the way of being professional.
The show returns tonight, Wednesday February 3rd on Bravo TV 10/9c and is sure to have something for everyone interested in the world of hair. Hosting the show this season is Camila Alves, an international model who sports a noticeably beautiful head of hair herself. Other judges include returning master colorist, Kim Vo; Jonathan Antin, celebrity hairdresser and previously on Bravo TV’s hit “Blow Out,” and renowned hairdresser Orlando Pita.
The winner of this competition will receive a cash prize of $100,000. given by Nexxus Salon Hair Care. Also they will have an apprenticeship with Nexxus as well as a chance to style hair for an Allure magazine photo shoot.
