Short Hair Style Challenge - Extreme Color

The first challenge (short hair style challenge) in this episode, required nerves of steel from the hair style models. I think I glimpsed more than one dubious look from the models, as their hair stylist unfolded their vision for what they were about to do to them . . . and rightfully so!!

It was revealed that at least a few of these models had multiple layers of color in their hair at the start. What that means is that before their hair could be colored to a vibrant, extreme color, the old color needed to be lifted out of the hair. To remove multiple layers of color in the hair, requires conceivably many applications of high volume bleach, which of course is quite damaging to the hair. I’m sure that when choosing the models for this challenge, they needed to asses that their hair would hold up to it, but I wouldn’t want to be the next hair colorist for these models, who needs to change that vibrant, extreme hair coloring!!

Charlie wins with multi-colored Pompadour Hairstyle!

The judges chose Charlie as the winner with this multi-colored Pompadour looking thing. I wouldn’t have chosen him as the winner because I just didn’t like the end result. However, he did make me a believer that he knows how to achieve a clear variety of hair color tones. They described this creation of purple, fuchsia, bronze, brown hair coloring as a winner . . . for “pushing the envelope.”

Dee’s ‘bird of paradise”

My choice for winner of this competition is Dee with her “bird of paradise.” Kim Vo gave her due credit, in my opinion, for the great separation and graduation of colors she did on her model. She also did what she set out to do. She described what she was going to do . . . and then did it! She clearly proved that she knows color theory. She even changed the hair style to fit with the new extreme color. If I were going to make an appointment with any of them for a new hair color . . . Dee would be my choice.

Paolo loses with this disaster!

Not sure what Paolo was thinking here, not just the color . . . but the hair style? He said he was going for blue . . . the judges called it more like a “purple haze.”

The Horrific Elimination Challenge

Such a sweet sounding challenge this seemed to be called “Hair from Heaven,” but in the end it turned out to be more like the “Hair from Hell.” The challenge was a good one; teams of two were chosen to work together to recreate and modernize the hair styles of the infamous “Charlie’s Angels.” They were asked to reinvent the signature styles of Farrah, Kate and Jaclyn to fit their characters. This challenge was a little painful to watch in the end. No one GOT it! I think of the hair styles these women wore to be so basic. I mean, anyone growing up even remotely close to this era, wore an Angel’s hairstyle.

Glen’s version of an updated Jaclyn Smith?

Glen got the boot this week as she took responsibility for this Jaclyn Smith so-called reinvention. It is boring and frumpy . . .is it not?

I think Jaclyn nailed it when she told the hair stylists they all missed the mark. There was no movement, softness or body to the final hair styles they produced. They were all stiff, and just blah, blah, blah. The final judgement call on this challenge was, no winner! I concur! Yawn . . .Yawn
