SATC 2 Hair Review

Plenty of hairstyles in the new SATC 2 movie!
Lead hairdresser of Sex and the City 2 (SATC 2), Frank Barbosa, shared some thoughts about the hairstyles he and his team of hairdressers created in the new movie to be released on May 27, 2010.
“Behind the Scenes
on SATC 2″It is entertaining to view what the flirty four wear and just what they do with their hair. These flamboyant ladies from the Upper East Side stir up a whirlwind where ere they go . . . I suppose even in Abu Dhabi where their travels take them in SATC 2.
Barbosa reports that he worked closely with costume designer, Patricia Fields in order to connect the Halston-inspired wardrobe and the hairstyles. He also aimed to bring the directors vision of “old Hollywood meets new Hollywood” alive visually in the hairdos on the ladies. When asked by American Salons, Lotus Abrams, what he did to make a distinction between the ladies hairstyles on SATC 2, Barbosa said, “Everyone had their own style and their own look in this film. We really set Kim Cattrall [Samantha] apart this time. She has a lot more going on in the film than she did in the first film, so she has a lot of looks that she goes through. And Cynthia changed her hair several times in the film. We got to put a wave in it this time, which she really liked.
I also used hair color to differentiate everyone from each other, not just the main character girls but also other girls who they had to interact with in the film. We didn’t want any two girls to look alike on camera.”
He added that he created about 10 different looks for each character in the film. The hairdressers used curling irons, extensions, wigs and hair color to create the distinctive looks. His favorite look was on Sarah Jessica Parker (surprise, surprise) in the opening sequence, where she wore big, 1970′s Halston-inspired wavy hair.
If you’re looking for some new hairstyle ideas, it sounds to me like the new SATC 2 movie, with the feisty, frivolous, fashionistas, won’t fall short of hairstyles to replicate!
