Overhyped Hair Care Product Site
New Hair Care Product Auction Site . . . NOT!
We’ve all heard the advice . . . don’t always take what you read on the internet as gospel. Well I found a perfect example of that axiom. Early in November I got a press release from a company by the name of Hairflix, I scanned the headline it talked about an e-bay type auction service just for hair products that are not supposed to be for sale to the general public. (Read more about this practice, called diversion). I thought the article looked interesting, but I was too busy to write about it then so I set it aside for after the holidays to check it out.
“There is no auction there that I could find”
Well today I dug out the article to take a second look and see if it was something new and exciting going on in the hair care product market that was worth passing along to all of you.
I didn’t even get past the first paragraph before I had this vague feeling that this was just over the top hype and full of corporate happy talk . . . blah, blah. When I got to their site my worst fears were confirmed. There is no auction there that I could find, a vast majority of the products that I saw can be had at your local Target or Wal-Mart, and the prices did not seem to be a bargain.
On their site they offer a 34oz. bottle of (Nexxus) Phyto Organics Nectaress conditioner at $30. That sounded a bit on the high side, so I did a Froogle search for the product and lo and behold you can buy a whole gallon of the stuff on eBay for $35. These are the kind of folks who give Internet e-commerce a bad name. When will they learn . . . we don’t need hype, all we need is the truth and we can make them rich.
Save your money folks order your hair care products from names that you can trust, The Body Shop, Folica, and eBay.
