Make that Salon Hair Blow Out Last

The luxury of a professional blow-out used to be reserved for the very rich, but more and more women are indulging in them. Stylist Jan Arteca of Xena’s Beauty Company in New York City has tips for making your blow-out last.

“Salon Hair Blow Out” • Don’t be guilty of product overload. A lot of women go home and decide to make
some adjustments by layering on more products, which makes hair go greasy.

• If your mane looks flat when you wake up in the a.m., flip your head over and brush your hair out from underneath, then flip it back again. Then, “brush it into place the way your stylist did,” says Arteca.

 • If your hair’s super-fine, “you can wear rollers if you’re able to steep on them.”

 • If your hair tends to be oily, try this old-school tip: Put powder on spots that you’re worried about, then shake it off; it will absorb some ofthe grease.

 • Do you have curly hair that tends to go frizzy? Arteca suggests going over a couple of pieces with a flat iron.

Finally, don’t try to stretch your style out too long. “If your hair is fine or gets
greasy, it might last only a day or two,” says Arteca. “If your hair is thick, coarse
and/or curly, it could last three to four days, to up to a week.”
