Insider Predictions From Cosmetics

Looks Like The Wrinkle Removers And Lip Plumbers Are Here to Stay
Pierce Mattie, the public relations blog has an interview recently with Karen A. Newman, Editor in Chief of Global Cosmetic Industry Magazine about where the cosmetics industry is headed.
I found it interesting that the buzz doesn’t seem to be so much about what I would consider the traditional cosmetic products where all of the big revenues are, but instead on all of the products that being sold to us consumers as alternatives to face lifts and the plastic surgeon’s knives.
Also interesting about the interview is that in appears that Karen’s PR inbox is full of stuff from the hair care product manufacturers. Anyway its worth a read:

Do you think that Avon and Olay will continue the “alternative to cosmetic surgery in a bottle route” or will they move onto the next big thing? I think there is some play left in the surgery alternative message, and companies finding success there most likely won’t abandon it completely – this whole aging thing is just not going to go away, much to my dismay. Perhaps the really smart companies will find a way to put a little business in each basket. |
