Heat Protection for Hair

Woman Curling Her Hair With a Curling Iron

What you ought to know about protecting your hair

We all want to look amazing for every special occasion. Before any big event we spend months dieting, weeks drinking just water to try and get blemish free skin and finding the perfect outfit. The one thing we just presume will be all right on the night is our hair and with the amount of stress we put it through each day this should be one area not left up to chance.

Each day out hair is not only attacked by the elements but also by hair styling tools such as hair dryers, straighteners and curling tongs. While being under strain of everyday wear and tear our hair needs some TLC from good hair care products to help it recover and look its best.

For many, hair care products are put on while straightening hair, such as the heat protection sprays or those to give it a silky look, but in order for your hair to look its best the treatments need to start before then. It is important to choose a shampoo and conditioner which help protect your hair; not only use a selection of these but also remember to treat it to the equivalent of a face mask at least once a month to help protect and strengthen it.

Remember hair products are not just part of your beauty regime; if you change locations you need to change your hair care as well as skin care regimes. Take holidays for example – you would put sun tan lotion on your skin to stop it burning, but what about your hair? This also burns so it is important to take the appropriate hair beauty products on holiday with you.

Then of course you have the products to help protect your hair from the heat of your ghds, to help it curl just right and of course to keep it all in place. So next time you reach for your ghd hair straighteners remember that hair beauty products don’t just start with heat protection spray – it goes much further back than that.

  1. Hi Lori,

Thanks for the comment! Hair care products are so important, but unfortunately, they’re often overlooked. It’s one of the most common mistakes that we see in hair salons everyday.

  2. Hello!

Congrats for this article! I really agree with you that we should have some specific haircare products, especially to protect our hair to several kinds of damages that we “love”to do: color changes, babyliss, hot irons, straighteners…
I think hair hydration and protection should always be our first concern. In my blog I love to tell people about this.

    :D
