Put away the spray

Women, especially those older than 50, should avoid overly done or fixed looks. They’re dated and not summer-worthy, our experts said. Opt for airy, textured looks with more movement by moussing hair and then blowing dry and finishing with hair cream, recommended Mikel Fischer, artistic director at Pascal Pour Elle in the Chicago suburb of Glenview.

“Today, the more mature women know how to work with their hair,” he said. “If they’re used to blow drying their hair, just go for more of a relaxed feel.”
