Hair Protein Treatment Leads to Healthy Hair

Hair Protein Treatment

Hair Protein Treatments Restore, Strengthen and Recondition

Who hasn’t had dried out hair at one time or another? But, if you’ve struggled with the old tried and true remedies and your hair still doesn’t look and feel healthy . . . try a hair protein treatment.

Hair can get to feeling and looking dry for several reasons. I won’t bore you again with the list of sins we all commit on our hair in our never-ending attempts to wrestle them into submission. BUT, have you ever tried repairing the damage you’ve inflicted by doing a hair protein treatment?

One of the main reasons hair becomes so dry and straw-like is because of over-processing. To keep your hair healthy, try periodic hair protein treatments as well as deep conditioning treatments. Hair Protein treatments restore, strengthen and recondition the hair, where deep conditioning treatments are formulated to add lots of added moisture deep into the hair shaft. Both treatments I highly recommend to keep dry, damaged hair healthy and beautiful.

If you have your hair colored, high lighted, permed or some other type of chemical treatment, there are a few things you should know. Hair is mostly made up of protein. Any time you have your hair chemically treated, whether it is by high lighting, hair-coloring, perming or any other type of chemical treatment, you are pulling protein out of the hair, depleting it of strength and structure.

The first time you have your hair chemically treated, about 15 to 20% of the protein may be lost. The next time you chemically service your hair, additional protein is lost. Over time your hair starts to feel and look dry because of all the chemical processing it has endured. A hair protein treatment” is a great way to restore over-processed hair by strengthening it and getting it back into good condition again.

So many of my clients, when we first discuss hair treatments, think that they will get the same result if they go to their local Sally Beauty Supply and buy any type protein pack to treat their hair. As you know, as with any other hair care product, not all products are the same. So buying any brand and throwing it in your hair may not give you the results that I know a good hair protein treatment can do for you.

Hair Protein Treatment

I recommend a professional hair protein treatment either done in the salon, or if you want to go more economical, purchase a product like “Redken Deep Fuel” hair protein treatment. You can get it from your hairdresser,or at a salon like Ulta. This product comes with 5 tubes in the box. Depending on the density of your hair you may use either a half or a whole tube in the treatment.

I recommend to all of my chemically serviced clients to take a box of this “Redken Deep Fuel” home after having their hair high lighted, etc. After shampooing, rinse and put the Redken Deep Fuel on your hair. Leave on for about 5 minutes while in the shower (I always do this on a day when I am shaving my legs, so I can multi-task), then rinse and do your conditioner.

I think the reason that Redken’s Deep Fuel works better than some other over-the counter versions, is that it penetrates deeper into the hair-shaft rather than just sitting on the outer cuticle layer of the hair. If you do this every other day for a couple of weeks, if your hair is extremely dry, or a couple of times per week after a chemical service, you will be AMAZED at the results you will get . . . I guarantee it!

It’s summer ladies and time to . . . let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

  3. Naturally I have afro-textured hair but recently relaxed it to make it more manageable. The salon I go to already use Redken products on my hair but I want to do the treatment myself and only need to go to the salon when I’m to relax my regrowth.
I was thinking of buying the Redken Rescue Force to use as a deep conditioner but would I benefit more from using the Redken deep fuel?

  5. I have enviable hair, long, wavy, thick, lots of it. It’s just on the dry side from living in the desert. The Shielo Color Protect conditioner hits just the right balance of moisture without heaviness or oiliness. My hair is SO soft and the curls stay apart with minimal frizz without the need for any additional products. Just a touch of product now for the frizz, even with air drying. Love the scent… coconut and something else. Love the absence of many common chemicals.
