Hair Dryer Techniques From Hair Stylists

Hair Dryer Tips From The Professionals.

From the Chicago Tribune comes this interesting article on tips for using a hair dryer on your hair. “Never rub your hair with a towel, it causes breakage” They interviewed several hair stylists from the Chicago area. Full of good information, the article at times contradicts itself.

One technique that I disagree with completely is towel drying wet hair. Wet hair is at its most vulnerable state when wet. Rubbing your wet hair vigorously with a towel can cause heavy duty breakage.

Never rub, if you must use a towel just, throw it over your head and hold the towel against your hair letting the towel absorb through its natural fibers. Other than that, I think the article is full of some pretty good hairstyling tips and techniques.

Styling your hair at home with a blow dryer isn’t as easy as it looks at the salon. But stylists offer some tricks of the trade so you can achieve a polished look.

The pros make it look so easy. Just a quick roar of the blow dryer, and hair looks practically perfect. Trying to recreate the effect at home, however, doesn’t always work.

So how can women at home style their hair with a blow dry so it looks like they just stepped out of a salon? First, don’t make the mistake of stepping out of the shower and reaching for that dryer. You have to make sure hair is about 90 percent dry before you start styling.
