Hair Care Product Tips for Winter
Hair Care This Time of Year is Extra Important
By Saleemah Staten
Hair care routine is really important this time of year as attested to by this winter hair article at Visual-Makeover. As the climate changes during the winter months, and so will your hair if not protected and preserved properly. Harsh weather can strip your hair of natural oils and moisture, so it’s important you remember to protect and preserve your tresses so your hair does not suffer during the coldest months of the year.
Always protect your hair with a hat or scarf when going outdoors. A variety of hats and scarves are available, which can be both warm and fashionable. Whichever you choose, be sure it is not made of fibers or material that will dry or damage your hair. Or you can choose to wrap your hair in a satin scarf underneath. Hair care overnight is important also. Wearing a satin wrap or using satin pillow cases will keep moisture locked in while you get your beauty rest.
For added protection, be sure to keep your hair conditioned regularly. Deep hair conditioning twice a month is a must for dry and chemically/colored treated hair. Leave-in conditioners are useful if you must wash your hair regularly. Pantene has numerous shampoos and conditioning hair care products available for all hair types and textures and range anywhere from $5.00-$9.00. And Paul Mitchell’s “Masque, Intense Conditioning Treatment” can be purchased for about $14.00 in most hair care supply stores.
To preserve moisture, try eliminating as much heat on your hair follicles as possible. Instead of using a hair dryer and curling iron after shampooing, opt to set hair on rollers, which will last longer and add body/volume or air dry hair completely before heat styling.
In between shampoos, keep hair preserved and moisturized with a hair serum or conditioning cream. Pantene’s Daily Moisturizing Cream for Relaxed and Natural Hair ($6.00) or Paul Mitchell’s Instant Moisture Daily Treatment ($19.00) is ideal for keeping hair hydrated daily. Paying attention to your hair care regimen at this time of year will also keep your spirits high.
