Frizzy Hair Perm Got You Down?
Help for Frizzy Hair Perms
Frizzy hair is a major issue in many women’s lives, especially when brought on by a perm. Frizzy hair perms can be helped in a number of ways, here’s how:
“Frizzy Hair Perms”Frizzy hair perm product help
There are plenty of product options to help frizzy hair that is caused by a perm. A popular brand, John Frieda Frizz Ease seems to be well-liked by many of my clients. This product is similar to many professional brand shine or smoothing serums. John Frieda Frizz Ease can be used before and/or after styling to control frizzy hair.
Another fabulous frizz product is Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss (a current fave of mine). Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss
works best when used with heated styling tools like the hair dryer or flat iron so I use this product with both!
Frizzy hair perm treatments
In-salon hair treatments like deep conditioners can work wonders for frizzy hair from perms. If you are suffering from a frizzy hair perm, I would suggest having your hairdresser deep condition your hair after every perm and perhaps in-between perms as well. In-salon deep conditioning treatments work wonders for conditioning, hydrating and controlling frizz. The application of heat on the conditioned hair is key to a successful deep conditioning treatment. It helps to drive the conditioner into the hair shaft.
For an at-home deep conditioning treatment, I suggest Joico’s K-Pak. K-Pak is a deep conditioner and reconstructor that leave the hair feeling super soft, shiny and conditioned. You can find this at your local beauty supply store.
Frizzy hair perm due to product brand
The brand and makeup of a perm product can cause excess frizz in hair depending on what hair type it is used on. Perm products with an unbalanced PH can affect the frizz factor in hair. Ask your hairdresser about perm brands that are acid versus alkaline. Acid based perms tend to yield a softer curl than the alkaline perms. Acid based perm brands include Zotos Quantum Classic Body and Matrix SB Acid Wave Perm.
I am a big fan of the Zotos brand perms and have had great results with them. Those hairdressers, who are dedicated to the trade, find a couple of perms that will consistently work well for the variety of hair types they work with.
