I must admit that during my tenure behind the chair as a hairstylist nothing sent me into a funk quicker than seeing one of my customers walk through the door with a toddler in diapers in tow, expecting me to know something about kids hairstyles. I quickly figured out that if I worked in a hair salon in a downtown or office building setting that I could avoid the sweet little urchins who just got a lollipop stuck in their hair in the care on the way to an appointment with me. Thankfully, I was able to keep it to a handful each year.

I would guess that a very sizable majority of my hairstylist peers would prefer not to do kids hairstyles, if they had the choice. There are a choice few hairstylists who not only enjoy kids hairstyles, but are good at it. If you’re a mom seek one of these angel’s out. But I know that many of you raising kids are on a pretty limited budget and cannot afford the pricey hair salons who specialize in kids hairstyles.

We have the same problem with our kids when it comes to hair cuts. Once or twice, my wife gave my son a hair cut/trim while he was taking a nap. She laid out towels ahead of time (which I didn’t have the foresight to do, but the sheets needed washing anyway….) |
