Remember this picture? It was a makeover for a lifetime for Chelsea Clinton, the year was 2002! Chelsea Clinton attended the launch of Donatella Versace’s Spring/Summer collection at the Thetre National du Chaillot in Paris. The three women then, 43-year-old pop legend Madonna, 29-year-old Hollywood celebrity Gwyneth Paltrow and almost 22-year-old graduate student and daughter of the former U.S. president, Chelsea Clinton, attended this fashionable event together.

Versace’s own hair and makeup team went on the attack, straightening Chelsea Clinton’s hair, applying just the right make-up, dressing her in a chic pantsuit and then plopped her down next to Madonna and Paltrow. This event was an unveiling of sorts for Chelsea Clinton, who before this had long been mocked for her modest dress and demeanor. Spectator’s agreed she graciously held her own next to these two celebrities and I think she did so too!

Before this makeover Chelsea Clinton was probably remembered more in the eyes of the public as the awkward, gangly teen with braces and unmanageable curly hair. It couldn’t have been easy growing up in her situation with all eyes watching her live out her tween years! It seemed like she went from duckling to swan almost overnight, and the straightening of the hair was a big part of the transformation.

Now, about to become Chelsea Clinton Mezvinski, the bride to be has earned a great deal of respect from the public who has watched her grow up. The Stanford graduate, who also acquired a Masters from Oxford, has also been credited as the fabric that held together (for lack of other words) a highly publicized, rather shaky marriage of her parents Bill and Hillary Clinton.
