With such an important event as prom, don’t you know all eyes will be on you?  Make sure it’s for the right reasons with a hairstyle that meshes with your dress. A short hairstyle is more flexible than you may think and  lots of short hairstyles can be pinned up or dressed-up with just the right accessory that will make you look amazing. Get inspired by celebs that know how to work their cropped hairdos, and enlist a trusted hairdresser to help you with ideas fitting for your dress, or better yet, to do your hair for this big night.

Anything-but-Plain Pixie

Celebs from Emma Watson to Carey Mulligan love the way a pixie cut makes them look sophisticated and smart. If you rock a cropped cut like this, try a totally edgy look for prom. Smooth shine serum through your pixie haircut to bring out its gloss, then use a bit of pomade or gel to smooth your hair in place. For a special touch, work glittery hair clips or fun feathered fascinators into your hair.

Sweet Curls

Show off your sweet side with this flattering hairdo, which uses large barrel curls to create a soft, flirty short hair style. French Braids for Short Hair

If you’ve got a  bob and want to wear it up, or short hair that’s just long enough to be pulled back with some sexy tendrils falling to frame your face, you can make a updo with French braids. For this style, pull your hair back and do a French braid or two over the top of your head. If you like, leave some face-framing ends out; they’ll draw attention to your features and emphasize your prom makeup. Tuck the ends of the braid under and pin. Pin-in a flower to match your dress and celebrate spring.You’ll end up with a sexy-looking updo that will turn heads at the prom.

Retro Pouf

A fun quiff retro updo, for short-haired divas who can just pull back their hair. The shorter front tendrils get pulled into a pouf, while the back of your hair gets slicked back, or pulled into a low pony or bun. Use a pomade stick to make your hair shine, and push the pouf up as high as you dare to go, securing the hair with bobby pins. Try this look with a retro or vintage prom dress for a sweet style that’s sure to get you noticed.

There are limited times in your life to become absolutely stunning . . . enjoy your prom!

Prom is no doubt the biggest event of your junior and senior year, so obviously you need to look your very best – especially since there will be a million photographs splashed all over Facebook!  If you have long hair, you have plenty of styling options available to you, from romantic up-dos to long, tantalizing beachy waves.

The best place to start when considering your prom hairstyle is to take a look at your dress. We know prom is first and foremost about the dress. If your dress is ruffly and full of detail, your hairstyle should be more sleek and subdued to make the dress the statement piece. You don’t want your dress and hair to be fighting it out for attention. If there is too much going on with both your dress and your hair, you will get lost in the all details.

A seriously impressive long hairstyle to wear at this years prom, is any one of the hundreds of  intricate braided hairstyles available.  Unless you have mastered braiding, maybe by modeling with your best girlfriends, you should twirl on into your favorite salon for a one-of-a-kind killer braid!  (You may even have a Braid Bar in your area.) This look has a bit of Taylor Swift and a bit of Katniss of The Hunger Games going on, and it would compliment just about any prom dress style . . . pretty, pretty, pretty!

If you prefer a more sleek, less complicated long hair look, a simple up-swept ponytail like this one is elegant and sophisticated. So, when choosing which hairstyle to wear for prom, these are our suggestions for you to keep in mind.  Try to keep a consistent balance between the style of your dress and your hairstyle. Wear a hairstyle you feel comfortable with and one that reflects your personality. If you aren’t comfortable in your hairstyle, you’ll be worried about it all night and you won’t have fun on this most special occasion. Make any salon appointments early, they fill up quickly come prom weekend and you don’t want to miss getting the long prom hairstyle you want!

Bridesmaid Hairstyles We Love

A wedding is one of the most important events in a girl’s life. It’s the day she’ll marry her one true love and embark on a whole new chapter in her life. A bride shouldn’t need to worry about her bridesmaids hairstyles looking like “something old or something blue” that went out of style years ago.  Here are some new, updated bridesmaids hairstyles we think are fabulously flattering, but won’t steal the show from the bride!

Braided Bun

When thinking about wedding hair, the classic updo comes to mind. A new spin for bridesmaid hairstyles is the braided bun. Avoid the high bun accompanied by a braid. This look is out of style and will make you standout for the wrong reasons as you walk down the aisle. Instead, the bun should be placed at the nape of the neck with two braids formed from pigtails wrapped around it. Bridesmaids should have some texture to their hair if they are trying this look.

Twisted Low Ponytail

This bridesmaid hairstyle is ideal for women with longer hair. It works best if you have thick hair with some curl or wave in it. The style is very easy to recreate, but still formal enough for a wedding. The ponytail should be twisted and worn low in the back. Volumizing products should be used to enhance the texture of the ponytail. Keep the hair loose and secure either with a hair tie that matches your hair color or a jeweled ponytail holder.

Loose and Wavy

Women with straight or wavy hair can make an elegant style by wearing their hair down. Adding a few loose waves makes the style more modern. If you want something more than just waves, rope braids can also be added to this hair style. Women with bobs can also add curls to create their wedding hair look. Instead of loose waves, larger waves can cultivate an Old Hollywood feel.

Wedding hair for women with very short haircuts can be tricky. However, a few products and styling tips can help make their style shine for a formal occasion. If you have a crop or a pixie cut, you can slick it back. Use products to add dramatic shine to this formal hairstyle. Side swept bangs are another option for short hair.
