What’s one small thing you do to feel better?
“Quick and Easy Makeover Tips”
I love my magazines for quick inspiration and a break from the . . . ho hummm of the day to day routines that are so easy to fall into. One of my favorites is, Real Simple, it has lots of great info on easy living and it’s rightful descriptive byline reads, ‘life made easier.’
They always have lots of tips, tricks and solutions to make everyday living a little lighter and easier.
Today while perusing the November issue, I came across an article by Julee A. Wilson, in the style section called, “Designing Women.” This article includes questions asked of three top fashion designers, to elicit some practical style advice from those who have some wisdom to share for quick easy makeover tips.
Real Simple asked questions of Eileen Fisher, Tracy Reese and Michelle Smith, long time veterans in the fashion industry.
Great questions we all would like to know, were asked of these women but the one that I wanted to bring to attention here was the question; What’s one small thing you can do to make a huge difference in your appearance?
Michelle Smith, New York City answers this question, “Getting my hair blown out is an inexpensive way to look better instantly. It lifts my mood and makes me look polished, which is always in fashion.” A simple but indulgent little pleasure that makes a difference in how she looks and feels!
Have you considered the little things you can do to make yourself look and feel better? I may be a little biased here in that I have seen behind the chair, more than once, just what a lift a good hair style can give. When you look better, you feel better . . . it’s a fact! So, why not consider on a bad hair day . . . a simple wash and style? That appointment can most often be made on the spur of the moment, and who knows maybe you can make a new hair stylist connection. If you’re without a stylist you like now, this is a great way to try someone out without a lot invested!
Some other favorite mentionables of these three designing women included;
- Favorite T-shirt - J.Crew cotton because of consistent fit and price.
- Favorite Jeans - Gap’s boot cut
- Favorite Fashion Find - A Mulberry handbag made of saddle leather that’s gotten more character with age.
- Travel Essential - Scarves in neutral and seasonal colors
A question I particularly liked was; “What do you wear when you want to look leaner?” Eileen Fishers says, “A long top paired with slim pants or leggings creates a clean, elongated line,” . . . of course this is a truth I know quite well!
