A Highlighting Tip From American Salon Magazine
Patrick McIlvor Shares a Great Hair Highlighting Tip
I found this interesting philosophy on hair highlighting techniques in the January Edition of American Salon Magazine. Editor in Chief Marianne Dougherty sat down with Patrick McIlvor, owner of Patrick McIvor Hair Color Studio in Bethlehem, PA to talk about, what else? . . . Hair High Lighting.

The challenge now is to reconsider the way we do hair highlighting. Leland Hirsh, who founded ArTec, is the first person I ever saw who questioned why we were putting highlights all the way to the scalp. Come down mid-strand to see what’s happening, grab some lighter pieces and highlight them. Hair Highlighting should not look like pieces of linguini. We should not be applying highlights so it looks like they were done by a machine. |
