Holiday Hair Style How-To Video from Rihanna’s Stylist!

Rihanna’s hair stylists gives tips and holiday hair style how-to’s!

You know that when it comes to holiday hair styles, your hairdo is just as important as your little black dress. Whether you want to create a sexy, trendy, or classy look, we have three different holiday hair styles to show you that you can do at home with the help of Rihanna’s celebrity hair stylist, Ursula Stephen.

Ursula Stephen is an A-list celebrity renowned hair stylist, perhaps mostly recognized for transforming Rihanna’s look from the girl-next-door to one of pop’s edgiest stars! When Rihanna released Good Girl Gone Bad in 2008, Rihanna wanted a new look and Ursula was the one behind that reinvention. In creating Rihanna’s “short crop” she redefined “cool” for short hair styles. Rihanna’s short crop hair style became the most popular hair style in demand! Since that time, Rihanna has set many hair trends, including a new demand for red hair color, thanks to Ursula Stephen!

Here’s a live recording I’ve had with Ursula regarding this seasons looks and what we should be thinking about when planning our holiday hair styles. She shows us three different holiday hair styles and gives us lots of tips and how-to’s to be able to achieve these looks at home. Thanks Ursula!

Kristen Stewart Bella Updo

How to Get Kristen Stewart Bella’s Wedding Hair Style at Home

You’d be lying if you said you weren’t secretly captivated by the love story of Edward and Bella in the Twilight Saga… and also captivated by the understated up-do Bella had at her wedding (as worn by Kristen Stewart in the film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1). This look is whimsical and romantic, simple and elegant. It works best for naturally straight or slightly wavy hair, medium to long in length.

Here’s how to easily get this look at home:

  1. Starting with damp hair, blow dry after using a root lifter for volume (such as Extra-Body Daily Root Boost from Paul Mitchell
). Dry the hair with your fingers to allow for a natural wave.
  2. Loosely pull back the hair into a low ponytail leaving out a two-inch section at the front which frames the face. Secure ponytail with elastic.
  3. Separate the ponytail into four sections.
  4. Twist two of the ponytail sections and wrap around the base of the ponytail into a freeform bun. Secure to the head with bobby pins.
  5. Loosely braid the remaining two sections and wrap the braids around the bun into your desired location. Secure with bobby pins. Finish the bun with a light hold spray (such as Extra-Body Finishing Spray from Paul Mitchell
    ).
  6. With the two front sections of hair, lightly tease at the root for volume and braid the sections. Pull the braids back on either side of the head and secure them to the bun using bobby pins. Leave down a few wispy strands to frame the face.
  7. Finish the entire look with a light hold finishing spray.

Style this updo with an antique hair comb for a classic, romantic look or an oversized white flower for a more modern feel. Add the veil and any bride will be ready to stun her groom as she walks down the aisle.

How to Add Volume to Your Hair

Hair Volume is Easy With These Tips

You know the saying, “everyone wants what they don’t have”? This saying proves true more times than not in the world of hair! Most blondes wish for dark, exotic features and most brunettes spend lots of money to dye their hair blonde! If you have curly hair, you most likely wish for pin straight hair that is easy and quick to style. If you have pin straight hair, you most likely crave hair volume, volume and more volume! These scenarios are just the way of the world!

For those of you with thin, limp hair, here is your time to get the added volume you want with this list of tips and products that we are sure will solve all your dull hair problems!

  • Make sure when washing your hair, you do not use conditioner on your roots! Hold your hair back in a pony tail and apply conditioner from that point to the ends. Adding conditioner to your hair will make the root heavier and pull your hair down when styling.
  • Applying a dime sized amount of blow dry serum or volumizing serum will help a great deal! Again, same concept as the conditioner. Do not put directly at the root. With hair product, you want to start at the ends. Any excess serum you can work up to the top of your head. Two serums in particular that work wonders are Kevin Murphy’s Anti-Gravity oil free volumizing lotion and Redken Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow Dry Lotion.
  • Having a good brush is very important when blow drying. For volume it is best to use a round brush that will trap the heat and add lift at your roots. Try BrushLab’s {Fresh} Thermal Round Jumbo Hair Brush. You will notice a decrease in your drying time and healthier shinier hair!
  • When blow drying, section out the hair and dry one section at a time. Roll the hair up in the round brush to your root and hold the dryer there for a few seconds to trap the heat in the ceramic barrel. The heat allows the brush to set the shape. Gradually start unrolling the section but don’t let the hair fall off the brush, then roll back up to the root and repeat holding the dryer in place for a few seconds. Repeat as many times needed to dry the section of hair.
  • Make sure you completely dry all of your hair. The little bit of moisture left un-dried can make for frizzy hair not hair volume.
  • When you are finished blow drying, use a wide tooth comb to brush through hair in order not to flatten hair and keep the volume.

With these simple steps, you should be on your way to J. Lo volume in no time!
