Hair Styling Tool Creates Multiple Effects

“Hair Styling Tool Innovation”Don’t you just love it when someone comes up with a new twist to an old idea?  Here is a new innovation for an old hair styling tool . . . namely the roller. This new hair styling tool is the Velcro Strip by White Sands. These are Velcro strips that can be adjusted to create waves, volume and multiple size curls. They can be used on wet or dry hair and a big bonus for the traveler is they take up much less space than conventional rollers!

It looks to me that it may take a small learning curve to get the effect you want from this new hair styling tool, but that’s nothing new. This is a new hair styling tool that allows you to adjust the amount of curl or wave you want, literally at your fingertips!
I haven’t tried this new tool nor am I convinced yet that I need a set. I think it’s priced a bit high, but it might be right for you especially if you have long layered hair.

The Velcro Strips are available in medium or large sizes. Both sets contain 6 strips and 3 sticks for $36.00 or $40.00 online at www.whitesandsproducts.com  I imagine the difference of the medium and large sizes has to do with the length of the strips, but that wasn’t clear on the site. It  seems to me they should include more strips and sticks in a set.

To create a wavy effect:  Take a 4- inch section of hair about 2 inches deep, spray with a styling spray and lay on top of a Velcro Strip (Velcro side up) then apply another Velcro Strip (Velcro side up) on top. Align the holes to weave the stick and achieve the desired wave pattern. Do not apply Velcro on Velcro as it will cause hair to frizz.

To create Volume and Texture:  Take 2 inch sections and spray with styling spray. Lay Velcro Strip on back side of section. This will be the direction to roll the Velcro Strip into a roller. Secure with clips. Air dry or apply heat for 4-5 minutes and let cool.

If you decide to try this new hair styling tool, let us know what you think!

Hair donations needed now for oil spill cleanup!

RIGHT NOW, you can help with cleanup operations in the gulf by getting the message to your neighborhood salons and pet groomers that hair donations are needed!

Hair donations, pet groomers, wool farmers and individuals alike are being asked to send hair donations, fur clippings and nylons to Matter of Trust for the makings of hair booms and mats to help in the oil spill cleanup. Donated hair, fur and wool are stuffed into nylon hoses (booms) that are then used to soak up and trap the oil. Brilliant!

“Hair Donations Help Clean Up the Oil Spill”Warehouses have been donated and set up all along the gulf coast. Matter of Trusts says, “A delivery address in the Gulf will be emailed to you. We’re not posting warehouse addresses on the web, because we’re coordinating how much goes where. All along the Gulf Coast new harbor depots are being temporarily donated to this cause. We’re doing this in WAVES (now on WAVE 8) due to the unprecedented surge of donors signing up every hour!

They’re coming in from all over the US as well as Canada, UK, France, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Australia…! It’s an international philanthropic community phenomenon!
Check out the latest video of what hair donations as well as fur, wool, nylons and funds are doing to help the cause:

Phil McCrory, a hairdresser from Alabama made the discovery that hair was a material which would be resourceful for collecting and containing petroleum spills. Since 1998 Phil’s company Ottimat.com has been producing hair mats made from recycled hair purchased in China. Ottimat has partnered with Matter of Trust to coordinate an International Natural Fiber Recycling System. They have been successful at stimulating green jobs and the textile industry!
