Ashley Greene’s Twilight Premier Ponytail

Twilight star Ashley Greene had the perfect ponytail for her premier look. It was voluminous and shiny and perfect for the event. I know that I’m not the only one wanting this look, so here’s how to get it:

Celebrity hairstyles expert, Ted Gibson, who styled Ashley’s hair gave some pointers on how to copy this look. He used a thermal spray at the root and a styling cream on the rest of her strands. He blow dried the hair with a round brush to create lots of volume and then used a large barrel curling iron to create a smooth curl with lots of volume. He teased the hair in the front, to create lift, smoothing top strands and then pulled back into a ponytail and secured with a hair band.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s Simple Layers

Alright, I realize that Sarah Michelle Gellar played in the TV version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but this was originally a movie, so it made my number three spot for favorite vampire women celebrity hairstyles. During this shows run, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy, had some noteworthy hair styles. Many women rushed to the hair salon to get her simple and subtle layering which was occasionally enhanced with waves.

If you want Buffy’s wavy hair look, blow dry hair with a round brush for volume and then put hair into medium-sized hot rollers. When cool to the touch (about 20 minutes), remove and finger style waves.

Twilight Edward’s Dreamy Hair

Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward in Twilight and New Moon, has the dreamiest hair around. Thick, lush, wavy and perfectly messy, Edward’s big hair look in these movies gets top spot for my favorite celebrity hairstyle in vampire movies.

If you want a style like Edward’s, it helps to have a thick, wavy texture to your hair. Enhance this style with plenty of texturizing products including my favorite, Enjoy Texturizing Spray, along with a spray wax. Another product line I like is TIGI’s Bed Head, since this line is specifically developed to give you that perfectly messy look.

Taylor Swift switched from her curly hair to straight hairstyle, when she stepped out for her 20th birthday. The popular country singer recently underwent a makeover, courtesy of US Weekly Magazine, where she had her hair colored for the first time and straightened. I adore this look on her, she looks gorgeous. Although I love the look, I imagine she’ll be sticking with her signature curly hair styles look for the most part in order to save her hair from too much heat damage.

Don’t worry, Taylor Swift’s mythical curly hair styles aren’t going away, her hair isn’t straightened permanently. This new straight hairstyle is courtesy of straightening products and a flat iron. If you mostly wear curly hair styles but would like to switch it up once in a while, you can get this straight hair style too. Follow these steps to protect your hair from heat damage when straightening.

Start by running a straightening serum like Philip B Drop Dead Straight through damp hair. Then blow dry using a large round brush to smooth out curl while maintaining volume and bounce. Next, spray a heat protectant spray like, Nexxus Heat Protexx throughout hair to protect hair from flat iron’s high heat. Section hair into several small sections and then run a flat iron down hair slowly from root to tip. Finish the look by using a serum like John Frieda Frizz Ease to keep hair looking shiny and healthy and to ward off frizz.

I’d suggest that those of you with naturally curly hairstyles save this straight hairstyle for special occasions. Straightening your hair too often will lead to unnecessary damage to your curls, especially if you are coloring or high lighting your hair also.

So don’t forget to use these types of heat protecting products when making your curly hairstyles into straight hairstyles. This will greatly help maintain the health of your hair while also creating great styles!

Blake Lively Hair the new Rachael?

The Internet seems to be a buzz on how to get Blake Lively hair so I thought I would put in my two cents worth. It kind of surprises me because the Blake Lively haircut is a simple, run of the mill, long layered haircut. Blake Lively’s hair is cut in long layers and into face framing layers starting from the chin down . . . that’s it . . . nothing new here!

Blake Lively Hair”I think the flurry of requests, reportedly in hair salons across the country for Blake Lively hair, has more to do with ladies wanting her hair to think they can live vicariously as Blake Livey (or maybe to be her, the 22 year old bombshell in Gossip Girl).  Since there is nothing fancy or new about this haircut . . . it must be the Who and the shiny, sometimes textured and tousled, muti-blonde hair that has everyone in a lather. I guess there is nothing new about that either, we must be ripe for a new ‘hair icon.’  But, I don’t believe this Blake Lively hairstyle reaches the status of the Rachael or Farrah as some are suggesting these days.

You can read a number of ‘how-tos for Blake Lively’s hair on the Internet and some of them can get quite involved. But I found this interview with Blake to be one quick and easy how-to instruction from the horses mouth! At least this is how she gets her day to day wavy, tousled look . . .

New York Fashion magazine reports, Jennifer Johnson, who styles Blake Lively’s hair for Gossip Girl, said all she does is frequently apply a conditioning masque and let Blake’s hair “dry in a simple chignon.” That’s the same type of hairstyling Blake says she does on a day-to-day basis in the above video.

I haven’t seen the show, but one major thing I see about Blake Lively’s hair in pictures is that it looks in great condition. You may not have the same texture hair as Blake, but if you want your hair to look it’s best . . . condition, condition, condition. That’s one thing hairdresser agree on. Another thing Blake says regarding her hair color; she has the hair color touched up every 6 months. Keep in mind, less chemical processing is better than more. (Of course being 22 yrs. old, with no gray to cover which doesn’t hurt either!)
