Emmy Hair the Best and Worst

Emmy Hair the Good, Bad and the Ugly

“Emmy Hair
Winners and Losers”
Emmy hair and fashions were all over the map at this years awards. The dresses were sleeveless, one shoulder, some short but mostly long gowns and no one particular style or color dominated the runways. The colors of the gowns mostly included, shades of reds, blacks, whites and a variety of blues.

Emmy hair styles however, were a bit more predictable. For mid length and longer hair the most coveted updos were buns with hair swept back and totally off the face with just a slight lift on top. Most the women who wore this look, appeared elegant and right for the occasion. Another fabulous Emmy hair style for long hair included regular and side-swept ponytails. Great news for all who are looking for the right hair style for that next big soiree! You can do this quick and easily at home. The best hair styles at the Emmy Awards were simple and sweet.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler gets my vote for ‘Best Emmy Hair’ at 2009 awards. A best hair style looks ‘best’ when it works right with the total look, the dress, jewelry and the woman. Jamie wears the perfect elegant swept back updo, with a touch of height on top and crystal drop earrings. The hair style has an understated elegance that lets her beauty show through and her gorgeous Donna Karan gown shine!

Emmy Hair of Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ was another favorite Emmy hair style pick of mine. Her long two toned hair color, darker blonde on underneath layers and lighter blonde on top was gorgeous with her two tone gold dress!  And her soft big curls looked sultry and sweet! The combination of great hair color and big natural looking curls gave her hair style class for this special occasion.

Emmy Hair Debra Messing

Love her! Once again she puts together a great hair style and total look! Debra is wearing a low slightly off center ponytail, lightly curled, with a straightened side swept bang. Some pictures at the 2009 Emmy Awards, show her with her pony swept to her bare shoulder side for a trendy but casual and elegant look with this dress!

Worst Hairstyles at 2009 Emmy Awards

Emmy Hair
Emmy Hair Joely Fisher

Joely Fisher shows us all ‘what not to do!” Wouldn’t someone tell her it’s all ‘overdone’? She gets a ‘worst Emmy hair’ cause it just accentuates (all in the wrong way) her entire look . . . can’t decide if she should be going to the prom or be in a back to the 60′s wedding party? Are those love-locks?

Emmy Hair
Emmy Hair Leighton Meester

Another Emmy hair mess. I just think the hair style, being that this is the Emmy Awards and that you, a Gossip Girl, has been asked to be a presenter . . . could be a bit more special. Maybe it started out better at home, but in the vein of going casual, it got up and went!

Celebrity Hairstyles at ALMA Awards

Celebrity Hairstyles and Hair Color Trends at ALMA Awards 2009

The ALMA Awards are back tonight with Eva Longoria Parker and George Lopez hosting the show. The ALMA Awards celebrate the Latino people’s contribution to the entertainment industry. NCLR (National Council of La Raza) created the ALMA Awards in 1995 as part of its strategy to promote fair, accurate, and balanced portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment industry. The name ALMA is Spanish for “spirit” and represents the determined spirit of the pioneering Hispanic people in the areas of television, music and sports.

Gomez, Bratt and Hayek

It’s hard to keep up with all the celebrity awards shows and to be honest, there are more of them than I care to comment on. The thing is, the shows are a place to go for those of you looking to see the newest celebrity hairstyle trends. The ALMA Awards will air tonight a 8:00/7:00pm Central on ABC.

So here is a head’s up on just some of the celebrity hairstyles you will be able to catch on tonight’s show;  Selena Gomez, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Alba, Salma Hayek, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez and for you guys, Charlie Sheen, David Archuleta and Benjamin Bratt! And host Eva Longoria Parker apparently will be sporting a host of different hairstyles and wardrobe changes for the evening.

Many Hispanic people have warmth to their skin tone and look much better with some added warmth to their hair color. Note the difference yourself on what these hair color changes do for the celebrities below.  My favorites all have some added warmth and my least favorites are blondes and cool ashy tones.

Friends New Hairstyle Not Good . . . Do I Tell Her?

New Hairstyle

New Hairstyle Gone Wrong?

Her new hairstyle is a faux pas, should I comment?

It’s hard to look a friend in the eye when her new hairstyle or hair color is just plain wrong for her. You have no doubt found yourself in this notably uncomfortable situation once or twice in your life. I know I have been there and it’s one of those awkward moments where, if you haven’t thought it through, you may easily say something you wished you hadn’t or, like the elephant in the room, the silence of the non-response tactic can be deafening!

“Be Diplomatic on Friends New Hairstyle”Let’s say your meeting your friends for lunch and one of them shows up with an obvious new hairstyle. Should you make a comment even if you don’t like it? Experts tell us body language speaks louder than words. You only have a matter of a millisecond before your unfortunate friend will read into your unconscious reactions to her new hairstyle. Instead of getting caught with the deer in the headlights response, there is a smoother way to get through this moment. What to do . . . what not to do

The New Hairstyle Compliment . . . Not!

First of all, you know that an insincere compliment is no compliment at all. In this instance, the insincere compliment comes flying out in an attempt to cover up our uncomfortableness.  We all count on our good friends to give us good objective feedback, at least I find it true for most women when it comes to a new hairstyle or hair color. It’s hard to be objective about ourselves. We go to the mirror with prejudices, that most often others clearly don’t see. What we need is for our friends to tell it like it is . . . just with a little bit of tact.

The New Hairstyle Etiquette!

Keep in mind any new hairstyle or hair color has the option of being changed. So don’t let the expression on your face scare her!  Knowing and understanding that will keep you and your friend from the fear that she is ‘stuck’ with the new hairstyle from hell. I didn’t understand that concept before becoming a hairdresser. Even though hairdressers are not all the same, there is one who can fix the problem. It may even be the hairdresser who did the new hairstyle to begin with.

A good response would be to ask her,”You’ve got a new hairstyle, are you going to a new hairdresser?” This will give you a breather, and she can let you know if she is thrilled or not with her new hairstyle. If she isn’t happy either, you can help by encouraging her to get it fixed. If she likes it and you don’t . . . just remember to be tactful in your comments. Again, your not so zealous response will give her food for thought.
