Celebrity Hairstyles Gone Bad

Celebrity Hairstyles like Kate Gooselin’s . . . Need to Go!

“Celebrity Hairstyles, what was she thinking?”Celebrity hairstyles are always changing and Kate Gosselin has been no exception over the years. The reality TV star and mom of eight has been in the media so much lately, that her hairstyle has been getting lots of attention and lots of flack. If you are a fan of Kate Gosselin’s show, “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” you may have seen her hairstyle transform over the years.

US Magazine, who often covers celebrity hairstyles, put this before and after picture of Kate on their cover showing her old hairstyle and her newest look.

As you can see, Kate Gosselin’s original mom hairstyle wasn’t anything to be desired for either. A plain and practical short haircut, it gave her the ease of virtually no styling time in the morning, which was perfect for the days when her sextuplets were infants. I prefer her more recent, celebrity hairstyle look over the latter, but I have some suggestions for the mom of eight.

Here are some celebrity hairstyles that I think would look great on Kate Gosselin:

Celebrity Hairstyles Jenny McCarthy
Celebrity hairstyles like Jenny McCarthy’s

If Kate Gosselin were to grow out the back of her hair into a short, sleek bob, like the celebrity hairstyle of Jenny McCarthy, Katie Holm’s and others, she’d have a much more flattering hairstyle. This bob hairstyle is still simple to style and maintain just like her current look. This hairstyle would be great for Kate Gosselin because it not only fit’s her face shape and hair type but, it has a chic side to it,  so she will look fabulous while promoting her new books.

Celebrity Hairstyles Sienna Miller
Celebrity hairstyles like Sienna Millers casual short hairstyle . . .

Kate Gosselin could keep a shorter hairstyle all over by having the layers around her face cut an inch or two and then texturized to create this ultra short shaggy style like Sienna Miller’s. This messy, bed-head look is great for a new mom because it looks great without much effort.

Celebrity Hairstyles Victoria Posh Beckham

A celebrity hairstyle like this one of “Posh Spice,” that is very dramatic, is perfect for Kate Gosselin’s dramatic personality. A graduated bob with an asymmetrical front is a fun and funky look while still maintaining your mom hairstyle. Kate would look great with a hairstyle similar to this and it wouldn’t take her long to grow out the back to reach this length.

I hate to see someone ruin their potential by wearing a bad hairstyle! If you are a new mom, consider these celebrity hairstyles, they might help you to choose a fresh, new style that is both chic and simple to style.

Postpartum Hair Loss Treatments: Everyday Solutions and Quick Fixes

Postpartum hair loss in women is a real issue. My clients who are new moms were always coming to me asking what they could do about this issue, and before I had my baby, I would just direct them to some volumizing products and tell them that it’ll all be ok.

But when I had my daughter last year I found out firsthand how horrifying this hair loss can be. I also found out what causes it, what to do about it and how to cope with it.
Postpartum hair loss occurs because during pregnancy, your hair falls out due to your raging hormones. This is why you have that beautifully thick and lush hair during pregnancy.

After you deliver your baby, your hormones go back to their old self, causing not only your regular amount of hair to be shed but also the additional amount of hair you kept on while pregnant as well!

“Postpartum Hair
Loss Treatments”
Postpartum hair loss in women typically occurs after your baby is three months old or so. This extra shedding makes it seem as though you are going bald (that’s how I felt at least). Don’t worry, you will not go bald!

If you are starting to find extra strands of hair in your brush, on the bathroom floor and in your shower drain, you are probably losing your hair due to postpartum hair loss. I remember finding hair in these places, but everywhere else too; in the nursery, on my pillow, on my clothes . . . EVERYWHERE!

To help combat this hair loss, check with your doctor to see if  you can continue taking your prenatal vitamins, or take a multi-vitamin so that you get all the nutrients you need to keep what hair you have where it belongs . . . on your head.

Also, you can try new hairstyles that don’t constrict your hair strands. I liked wearing my hair in a thick, cloth headband. It kept my hair out of my eyes so I could tend to baby and gave me a cute style too. Avoid pulling hair back into a ponytail or bun that can cause breakage and further hair loss. You can also try a shorter new ‘hairdo‘ which  is super stylish right now!

If you are in the midst of postpartum hair loss right now, try to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As quickly as it starts to fall out, it stops just as fast. Then, it will help to know, you are going to have tiny little ‘baby’ hairs growing in and sticking out for a few months.

A new way of styling your hair or a new hairstyle will  help to accompany this stage as well. This is where the headbands came back in as a regular accessory for me. I used the headbands to hide these new little hairs that were popping in on my hairline.

Postpartum hair loss in women begins while you are a brand new mommy, around three months postpartum, and should end by your child’s first birthday. My hair loss only lasted a few months (thank goodness), but sometimes it lasts longer and sometimes it lasts shorter. If you experience having hair loss for longer than a year, check with your doctor to see if there is another underlying issue causing this increased loss of hair.

Wedding Hairstyles for Short Hair

Short Wedding Hairstyles

Short Wedding Hairstyles

“Short Wedding Hairstyles”With all this wedding hairstyles talk, I’d like to take a moment to discuss short wedding hairstyles. Don’t want long, cascading locks for your wedding day? It’s not a problem, because there are a variety of options for short wedding hairstyles too! There are a variety of reasons you may not have long hair for your wedding;

  • 1) you may not have the time to grow out your hair
  • 2) you don’t want to pay for pricey extensions or
  • 3) you love your short hair and want to work with it on your wedding day. All of these reasons plus some have led me to be creative when it comes to short wedding hairstyles.

I love creating faux up-dos for short wedding hairstyles. You can create this look by setting hair in large Velcro rollers and then pulling hair up and off face toward the back of your head. Keep key pieces in place by using bobby pins and a hard hold hairspray like Kenra’s Platinum Finishing Spray. Add accessories like fresh flowers or a decorative hair piece in the back to conceal where you are pinning the short strands at.

If you are wearing a veil during the ceremony and throughout the reception, you don’t have to add any accessories in the back because your veil will cover that. This is the perfect style for the bride who really wanted to grow her hair out for an up-do but didn’t have time.

Spice up your short wedding hairstyle

My advice for brides that don’t want to wear a veil is to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. You can definitely dress up your short wedding hairstyles with simple accessories that differentiate this hairstyle from your everyday style. One of my favorite short wedding hairstyle accessories is the headband. I love these sparkly, elaborate headbands made just for brides. This definitely says ‘wedding hairstyle’ and gives you the option of a DIY short hairstyle. You can style your hair normally, slip on your headband and voila…your wedding hairstyle is done in less than 10 minutes!

Other accessories you may want to try are hair pins that have Swarovski crystals or other sparkly jewels on them. And if you want something that is super stylish and chic right now, try a feathered accessory to complete your short wedding hairstyle. You can don a feather headband or a pin with feathers on it too.

Obviously I am a huge fan of accessories for short wedding hairstyles, especially those that sparkle and shine, but there are other things you can do to make your short hair stand out on your wedding day too. High lighting your hair is a great way to brighten your complexion (giving you that bridal glow) and giving dimension to your hair. If you haven’t high lighted your hair before, I’d suggest doing something subtle to start out with. And if you currently high light your hair, try adding in a few low lights for additional dimension and contrast.

Short wedding hairstyles are just as versatile as long wedding hairstyles, so don’t feel that you absolutely have to grow out your hair for your wedding. There are plenty of options for brides with short strands too. Experiment with different hair accessories and ways to style your short hair to make the most of your short wedding hairstyle.
