Innovative Hair Ideas, Anti-Aging Hair Products

Visual Makeover covered it in its article Hairstyles that Make You Look Younger. I had a student in one of my classes ask me the other day, “So what’s your take on the new anti-aging hair care products out there? Are they worth the money? How do they differ from other moisturizing hair products or products that are made to give hair shine and body?
“Innovative Hair Ideas”Great questions!  I don’t know exactly, but the same questions have come to my mind!  It’s really a mystery to me as to what qualifies a new hair product to fall into the category of being, “anti-aging.” I mean, hair is dead anyways! Can we really stop it from becoming deader?  Well, I don’t mean to sound cynical, cause I’m always looking for the next new innovative hair idea, but I just don’t have the answer to my student’s great question.

If you’re an executive of an innovative hair care product company out there who manufactures a line of “anti-aging hair products,” set me straight.

Meanwhile, Kristle seems a bit more diplomatic . . . here she shares her input on the matter of anti-aging hair care products;

We are a society obsessed with looking younger and that’s a fact. So with a beauty industry that is chock-full of anti-aging skin products, makeup, etc., why not have anti-aging hair products too!

Well now you have that option. Several hair care product manufacturers have incorporated these anti-aging innovative hair ideas and put them into action by creating products designed to give your hair its youthful bounce, body and shine back.

Innovative Hair Ideas: Alterna’s Caviar line is the Ultimate in Anti-Aging Hair Indulgence. Companies like Alterna and L’Oreal Professionals have jumped on the anti-aging hair product bandwagon. Alterna offers a complete line of luxurious hair products called Caviar. Their Caviar Anti-Aging line promises to improve the all-over appearance of hair by using luxury products like vitamin C and yes, caviar extracts! I can say that when I used this line, my hair felt richer, more moisturized and shinier than before.

Beauty bargain companies like Dove have also started selling anti-aging hair product lines into the mass markets. Dove sells Pro-Age, which is a head-to-toe line of anti-aging products that can be found at retailers like Target and Wal-Mart now.

If you want more shine and bounce in your hair, using anti-aging hair products is a great idea for you. Don’t be fooled by the name though, anti-aging hair care products will not give you your youthful color back or perform any hair miracles. These products are designed to moisturize hair and add shine and brilliance.

Moisture is lost from the hair and skin as we age, so any anti-aging product is going to add moisture back into hair or skin to help regain some of what is lost. Overall, I like these anti-aging hair care products. I think that the ingredients are great.

Kim Kardashian Hair High lights Change Up Signature Dark Tresses

I was shocked this morning when I saw Kim Kardashian with new hair high lights! When I read up on her new light locks, I found out that the honey colored hue was a style switch thanks to a wig for a recent photo shoot.

“Kim Kardashian’s New Hair High lights”Kim Kardashian’s temporary change in hair color made me think about all the naturally dark haired celebrities that have lightened their locks lately. If you’re thinking of a change, a tress transformation by way of hair extenstions or wigs like Kim Kardashian’s, may be a fun new way to try a new hair color or hairstyle. If you are yearning for a new hue like Kim Kardashian’s that is more permanent and is three shades different than what you are currently wearing, I’d suggest heading to your hairdresser for the job.

It looks to me like Kim Kardashian’s new hair high lights are a level 7/8 light brown, which is up from her natural level 3 darkest brown. If you have naturally dark hair and want to achieve this look, I’d suggest taking it in steps. You can have your hairdresser start by lifting your base shade to this honey hue, or you can do even smaller steps by adding in a few hair high lights per visit. Aim to achieve this look within three sessions with your hairdresser.

This will help to maintain the health of your hair and take you lighter gradually, so you don’t step out of the salon in shell shock. You can always add more hair high lights later if that’s what you decide you want. I’d suggest the same steps in reverse for someone who wants to go from very light hair to dark hair. You can always choose a semi-permanent color if you want to try a dark shade but don’t want to commit to something permanent right away.

Going darker is a little easier to tackle at home, but always keep in mind that if you are venturing three or more shades from your current hair color, stick with a hairdresser! As for Kim Kardashian, although her honey hue colored wig looks great, I think that her natural color is a more suitable fit. Hair color can be complicated, so consider getting to your desired color step by step and you may save yourself from at least one, typical, “bad hair day!”

Between weddings, business parties, holidays and any other special occasion, you will probably need to know how to style your hair for a formal occasion at one time or another. Take my secrets to styling formal hair and practice them now so that you’ll be prepared for any special occasion that comes up on your calendar.

• Keep it simple!! Simplicity, is the key to pulling off a great formal hair style. Don’t choose a formal hair style that is especially intricate or complex looking. It will more than likely be too much work to do on your own and you’ll end up just getting frustrated and giving up. Keep your formal hair style simple and it will look more sophisticated than if you were to try something more elaborate. A great simple formal hair style to try is one like the picture below.To get this hair style, simply pull hair back into a bun, letting a few pieces fall forward around your face. Secure loose strands in the bun with a few bobby pins and then curl the front pieces with a curling iron, directing the curl away from your face. Then add a beautiful hair accessories in the back and voila, you’ve got a beautiful formal hair style that took about 10 minutes!

• Keep it dirty!! Second day hair works wonders when it comes to styling formal hair. Try washing your hair the day before you have a special occasion to go to and then style your hair ‘dirty’. The additional hair care products from second day hair will help to hold curls, bends and updo’s much better than squeaky clean hair. To fake second day hair, try using a product like, Jonathan Product Spray Dirt , which gives second day texture to clean hair.

• Keep styling stash staples!! Be prepared. Styling formal hair takes practice, along with the right tools for the job. Stock up on hot rollers, velcro rollers, different sized curling irons, hair pins, bobby pins, a teasing comb and hair care product if you want the ability to create different types of formal hair styles. If not, you can always borrow said items from a friend or family member. One styling item that I highly recommend you have in your hair styling stash for any formal hair style, is hair spray. Don’t leave home without it! My personal favorite is Big Sexy Hair’s Spray and Play Volumizing Hair Spray. This hairspray is my multipurpose stand in for just about anything and everything from adding extra volume to finishing a formal hair style.
