Katy Perry Hair Style at the Grammys

I do love to see the stars wear Old Hollywood glamour hairstyles like Katy Perry’s hairstyle at the Grammy’s. Although the finger wave hairstyle has made a big comeback, we still don’t see enough women wearing it. If you ask me, I think this mostly has to do with the lack of know-how when it comes to styling this hairstyle that keeps more women away from wearing it.

It takes a bit of practice to get it right, even for gifted hairdressers! The finger wave is unlike other hairstyles we are used to creating. Here is an article with a finger wave how to video.
“Katy Perry’s Hair Style at the Grammys”Katy Perry’s hair looked edgy-elegant and movie star fabulous for the Grammys Sunday night. Mix-up a cool blend of Marilyn Monroe from “How to Marry A Millionaire” and a touch of Elizabeth Taylor and they were Katy Perry for the night.

Award-winning celebrity hairdresser Enzo Angileri styled the glam-noir look.
Enzo’s favorite black and white Italian films and thoughts of La Dolce Vita were all part of the inspiration. Angileri styles the hair of the world’s most beautiful women including Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Faith Hill and Demi Moore, and has won numerous awards for his film work.

“Katy’s black hair looks fantastic on her,” says Angileri, “and the dress she wore was pure glamour. This look shows off her beautiful face and features, and emphasizes high-energy shine and the silky texture of her hair.”

First Angileri blow dried Katy’s hair with a round brush. Next, he used a curling iron to create a loose marcel wave, then curled and shaped the bottom of the style.

Since the focal point of the look was its super-light, silky, natural shine, Angileri used new Moroccanoil Gold Shimmer Spray, infused with Argan Oil, all over the hair for a natural shine that was dramatically visible on the red carpet. It was important that the shine look intense without the look of any silicon-like product in the hair. It had to have the lightness of La Dolce Vita.”

Products used for Katy Perry’s look:
Moroccanoil Treatment for beautiful, extra shine and smoothness.
(MSRP: $39.00 / 3.4 fl. oz.)

Moroccanoil Gold Glimmer Shine Spray for weightless, natural silky-looking shine.

Taylor Swift Grammy Hair

Taylor Swift Grammy Hairstyle
“Taylor Swift Grammy Hair Style”

I’m bummed . . . I missed the Grammys, that’s the bad news. The good news is the reason being is that my hubby and I are on vacation! We’re traveling to warmer destinations by train, which is a great way to go, but not especially conducive for blogging. February is a great time to head out of Dodge, or Minnesota!

Anyways, I was able to capture a glimpse or two of some high lights, and I loved the Taylor Swift hair bohemian look. Her curly locks are perfect for this hairstyle and if you are lucky enough to have a similar hair type, it’s an easy style to recreate. We were lucky enough to get the DIY how-to’s on the Taylor Swift hair from the source, so here it is:

Taylor Swift hair look at last night’s Grammy Awards Show turned heads as the star worn her signature, long blonde curly hair in a luminous, deconstructed updo that was fresh and slightly bohemian. Leading award-winning celebrity hairdresser Enzo Angileri, who styles looks for a long list of Hollywood A-list clients such as Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez and Faith Hill, created the elegantly spirited look.

Angileri created the eye-catching style by first using a medium-sized curling iron throughout the hair to create volume at the roots for added lift. He then used Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream, a leave-on conditioner enhanced by Argan Oil, on the ends to hydrate, smooth definition and restore hair’s elasticity after using the curling iron.

Angileri then asked Taylor Swift to “lift up her face up to the sky” and bring her chin all the way up. He gathered all of her hair together in one, quick movement, and twirled it round, and into place. He then misted Taylor’s hair with new Moroccanoil Gold Glimmer Shine Spray, infused with Argan Oil, from a distance of 10-12 inches, to create a weightless veil of shine on the hair. Finally, hair was pinned in place with 4-5 strategically placed bobby pins.

According to Angileri, “I wanted to create a lightweight look that was unstructured and looked product-free, and used Moroccanoil products because of their remarkable lightness and natural silky-looking shine. Taylor Swift has really beautiful hair and I wanted to make the most of its special texture and create a unique look to show off her beautiful features.”

Winter Hair Care Prescriptions

Winter Hair Care

Winter Hair Care Tips

“Winter Hair Remedies”Visual Makeover has talked about winter hair in their blog. Tis the season for parched strands and flaky scalps, but there are ways to fight back! Jet Rhys of Jet Rhys Salon in San Diego has some simple solutions for winter’s biggest beauty bummers.

  • WINTER HAIR CARE TIP FOR HAT HAIR ~~ To avoid hat hair, pick the right type of hat—looser styles with a fuller top like a bucket hat or a newsboy cap can help you retain your style. Before putting your hat on, comb hair in the opposite direction from which it naturally falls. That way, when you remove it, you’ll still have some bounce and volume. Use a vent brush to lift strands and remove any tangles.
  • WINTER HAIR CARE TIP STATIC ~~ Try a brush with a combination of natural and boar’s-hair bristles, like a Mason Pearson. They allow for a close grip, which encourages the cuticle to lie flatter, helping to reduce static. If you still find yourself with static, rub a dryer sheet like Bounce over your hair.
  • WINTER HAIR CARE TIP DRYNESS/DULLNESS ~~ Try this all-natural rosemary-honey mask:
  1. Mix 1/2 cup honey, 1/4 cup warmed olive oil, and 4 drops of essential oil of rosemary in a spray bottle.
  2. Spray onto slightly damp hair and massage into scalp.
  3. Cover with a heated towel and leave on for 15-30 minutes before shampooing.
