Fergie, How’d You Get That Bouncy Hairstyle?

Fergie Hairstyle

A Few Tips To Get Fergie’s New-Hairdo!

Fellow Glamer, imnotobsessed.com showed this picture of Fergie, on her celebrity site, after she changed her hairstyle up a bit and went with that bouncy All American Girl curl. She asks how you get this look? It is, the hairstyle we’re seeing all over Hollywood these days.

“perfect hair type is slightly wavy and medium volume”

It’s not hard to achieve as long as you have some body to your hair and you don’t mind a little putzing.

If your hair is sleek, straight and glossy by nature, don’t waste your time. You probably deep down already know this but, it won’t hold for you. Even if your hair is highlighted, which will give it more ooomph, this type of bounce ain’t gonna happen for you. I’m sorry to say, I’m just trying to save you some time and aggravation here.

The perfect hair type for this hairstyle is slightly wavy with a medium volume, that is, not too heavy and thick and not too thin.

  • Blow-dry fast upside down, using a root lifter and a mousse, fluffing it till 90% dry.

  • Blow-dry with a round brush to tip ends and smooth hair a bit.

  • Set in large rollers and spray lightly with a finishing spray.

  • Heat rollers up with your blow-dryer on medium power with a high heat setting, not blowing hair out of place.

  • Leave in for at least 20 minutes. Take out gently, brush through upside down spraying lightly underneath with a finishing spray.

  • Flip up and finish lightly.

    Britney’s Hairstylist Ken Paves, Bails

    Hairstyle

Back to that infamous VMA performance

The obvious faux-pas at the VMA performance for Britney was the outfit she chose to wear, but what about her hair? What happened there?

“in a loop, attracting bad energy over and over again”

To tell the truth, Britney has never swayed me to use her as a hair model, that is, someone I write about to mirror her hairstyles. Her hair doesn’t seem to change much and she looks the same to me pretty much all the time. But, what happened the night of the VMA awards is another story. According to hollyscoop, her infamous hair stylist, Ken Paves, whose known for his work with Jessica Simpson, and many other high profile clients, decided to bail after arguments between the two persisted.

Apparently Britney hasn’t picked up any hairstyling tips over the years from Ken, or anyone else for that matter. Her hair had no style that night. What do you think she did to style her hair for her comeback performance on VMA? It’s unfortunate, but when it rains, it pours.

Britney seems to be in a loop, attracting more of the same kind of bad energy over and over again. She would do well for herself to learn what all the buzz is about on the hot topic of, “The Law of Attraction.” Do you think she is in a mindset where she is attracting what she is putting out?

Emmy 2007 Hairstyle - The Chignon

    Kathereine Heigl Chignon Hairstyle

And the best 2007 Emmy hairstyle award goes to . . . Katherine Heigl and the Chignon!

There were only a few stars, in my opinion, that came up with great hairstyles for the 2007 Emmy’s. Maybe the scorching hot weather that afternoon contributed to some of the droopy looking hairstyles. Never-the-less the stars of the show will, once again, set the theme for the hottest looks for you this season.

“simplicity and elegance of the chignon hairstyle”

Katherine Heigl, of Grey’s Anatomy, gets my vote for not only the best hairstyle, but the best overall look as well. Her hairstyle was a classic one, wearing a low chignon and just a bit of lift in the front. The look was stunning with her off the shoulder, form fitting white gown. The simplicity and elegance of the chignon hairstyle took nothing away from the dress, but complimented it instead.

A chignon (pronounced ” sheen-yon”) hairstyle is easy to create at home. It rarely turns out the same way twice, so don’t get hung up on trivialities. If you can create a bun, you can create a chignon hairstyle. A true chignon is created low, at the nape of the neck. The most important part in making an elegant chignon hairstyle, is in the hair preparation. Go for sleek, shiny, conditioned hair for your most elegant look.

    Quick steps to a smooth, classic chignon;

    • Blow-dry clean, conditioned hair with a texturizing product of your choice, mousse, gel, spray etc. Blow down the hair shaft, in the direction of the cuticle, with a paddle brush for a smooth finish. Use a shine serum if desired such as Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.

    • Pull back into a low ponytail and secure with a hair band.

    • Lightly spray and smooth down any flyaway ends.

    • Split ponytail into two or three sections.

    • Lightly backcomb each section, then smooth out with a bristle brush.

    • Roll one section starting around a couple fingers, then roll it around itself and secure with hair pins. Do the same with the other sections.

    • Finish by lightly spraying over all.

If your hair is too short to do this naturally, try one of the many new hair pieces available. We have kiosks at many malls in my area that have nice pieces. They will do some up do’s for you, which will teach you how to attach the piece to your hair. Beware, and make sure they don’t sell you a piece that is darker than your own hair. The ends of your hair are naturally lighter than the roots, if the piece is a little to light it will look much more natural than it it’s a little too dark.

Chignon foundations are available at beauty stores, drug and department stores. They look like a mesh doughnut, which you pull your ponytail through and wrap sections over the top securing with hair pins underneath. These don’t work well on hair that is too long or too thick. Thanks to Nexxus who shows us a video of another technique in creating a chignon hairstyle.
