Hair and Beauty Salons – What Would we do Without Them

Many moons ago I wrote Hair salon on the battlefield it was an article on how important hair and beauty salons had become to our female troops overseas. When I wrote it, hubby pooh-poohed it and thought it was kind of silly. I tried to explain how much better those female soldiers would perform in their jobs, but he was having none of it. What is they say, “men are from Mars”

Every woman on the face of the earth wants to look her best. Its in our genes. It is something that men just don’t get. As much as I love hubby, he just cannot relate to our fascination with our look.

How we look affects everything we do.

Whenever I read an article like the one below, I can’t help but think about how much we take for granted our wonderfully diverse hair and beauty salons. Almost every American woman is within 10 to 15 minutes of services that simply cannot be had in other parts of world. In fact I read a story recently that Afghan women have been stoned to death for having visited a black-market hair and beauty salon.

Can you imagine living in a place where you could not go to a hair and beauty salon on a regular basis? Thank You Lord, for birthing me in America. Anyway here is another article that confirms my theory, that is in our genes. For regular readers of this space you’ve probably followed the story of one of my favorite sources for hair care supplies. Sally Beauty is a fine company and doesn’t deserve abuse that it has taken at the hands of its founder, parent company and other vultures who only seem to be in the picture to strip her of any assets or management.

Winter Hairstyle Trends Are Always Predicated on Eye of The Beholder

Hair care routine is really important this time of year as attested to by this winter hair article at Visual-Makeover. Watching the articles that are intended to give us some La-Dee-Da! hairdressers opinion on what’s going to be the hot winter hairstyles can be down right humorous. They are not consistent at all as a matter of fact none of them are predicting anything remotely close to one each other.

For example back a few days ago I wrote a winter hairstyles article which predicted powdered hair and a few days before that I wrote a similar winter hairstyles article which predicated long, sleek, slick, and straight. Now comes this from Shorthair.com that predicts Long, voluminous tresses, short bobs and get this, the Jackie Onassis Beehive winter hairstyle. How’s that for being all over the map.

I wouldn’t worry about what is in fashion, by the time you figure it out, it’s already too late, and you’ll look behind the curve. Just get a great looking winter hairstyle that works just for you and make it your classic.

Holiday Hairstyles Series Part II

Ahh . . . classic elegance! Ok, I know, so you’re face is not Jessica Alba’s face, but if you’ve ever been told, “your hair looks good off your face,” give this one a try. It’s not only easy to do, but can be the ultimate elegant look, especially with a strapless gown!

Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo and do a deep conditioning treatment to add extra body and shine like, Paul Mitchell Super Charge. Be sure to leave it on your hair for at least 20 minutes and ideally apply heat and wrap up so it penetrates deeply.
